They are fully willing and prepared to tear up the streets and do this for two big reasons--More food for thought with the NYC natural gas ban. Most of their utilities, especially Manhattan, are underground, under the streets and, of course, sidewalks. Think about what adding capacity to the electric grid will mean in terms of tearing things up let alone the costs of tearing it up. The way they work there, in areas where that has had to happen already many small businesses have gone under because the streets were torn up for so long. That's yet another major economic hit. These people are worse than morons, they're outright evil.
Oh, yeah....I've heard that the current under-the-table payoffs, pay to play arrangements, quid pro quo deals and midnight contract awards in the municipal building inspection, garbage collection, code enforcement and permit departments of the Big Apple these days make the teamsters of the 40's through the 60's look like playground bullies....Jimmy Hoffa's probably spinning in his grave. They are fully willing and prepared to tear up the streets and do this for two big reasons--
First-- because it is "the Government" paying for it. They have NO CONCEPT that sooner or later REAL PEOPLE have to pay for such things.Second-- because they have political or monetary connections to the utility and construction firms that would get the contracts for that work. --- THEY BENEFIT POLITICALLY FROM THIS CRAP!--and they will then say the GOP is the party of corruption!!
Ha, ha, eat it you idiots!

Nah, they recovered the PA Reps SUV in Delaware and arrested the five occupants. Federal Bureau of Incompetence supposedly helped the local on this one.
Yup--- look at the idiotic "High speed Rail" project in California. Lots of contractors getting RICH from that--- and they all grease the hell out of the campaign funds of the Democrats out there. It is amazing that people refuse to see it!Oh, yeah....I've heard that the current under-the-table payoffs, pay to play arrangements, quid pro quo deals and midnight contract awards in the municipal building inspection, garbage collection, code enforcement and permit departments of the Big Apple these days make the teamsters of the 40's through the 60's look like playground bullies....Jimmy Hoffa's probably spinning in his grave.
