R0 / DS-2CD2x32 BrickfixV2 brick recovery and full upgrade tool - enhanced.

Ctrl+u not stoping boot loader, also entered key`s are shown on screen like more than one symbol.
I know you've fixed the problem by re-seating the ribbon cable to the sensor module - but maybe worth commenting for future use :

If you can't stop the bootloader, and what you type does not show correctly, it suggests the serial TTL connection to the camera is not wired correctly.
Is it wired like this example (camera connector is the same as the NVR)?

According to you pinout example an all others I found, I could not get any response in putty.

But only with this I can get cameras activity on putty
TTL RX - PIN3 Camera
TX - PIN 1
GND - PIN 2

For example when I press key A in putty I receive back A&

What happens when you swap the connections to 1 and 2 around?

Nothing in putty, complete silence - tried camera power cycle, restart putty session, PC with WIN 11 also XP
I have 3 USB TTL converts and wit all of them I get such behavior.
I also tried with other camera and got the same behavior.

The only thing which is not double checked is cable between TTL and camera, I assembled the ZH-4 connecter with the contact`s on wires by myself - it was purchased as separated components available local shop.
Checked it with multimeter, no shortcut between pin wires... .
Will order some "ready" pack from amazon.

BUT the overall main goal was reached why I purchased this camera - I bought couple NVR`s DS-7716NI-I4/16P(B) from auction and of course password was not known :D
Password extraction via PoE works like a charm.
NVR`s booloaders are on last fw where HKVS $ does not react on any command - this has direct RS232 connection with null modem cable.

Hello gents

Looking for some advise. Got some Chinese second hand bi-spectral cameras (DS-2TD1228T-2/QA) from local market place without knowing about whole firmware ordeal. Not a big deal as I just use translator to set it up and record both streams on my reolink RLN 36, but is it possible to convert it to English firmware?? English firmware is more recent too comparted to Chinese. Thanks in advance

Hi - hoping someone can help me. I have about 60x of the DS-2CD2332-1 and I cannot get them to upgrade through the web interface. They were originally on V5.1.2 140116 and I was able to get my test unit to upgrade to V5.2.0 140721 through the web interface, but no further. I'd like to enable the ONVIF functions but I don't believe they exist on this old firmware. They are in english and I believe they always have been.

When I try to upgrade to various 5.3 versions of the software, it immediately tells me that the firmware upgrade failed throug the web interface (using IE and placing the firmware file in the root of C:).

I'm trying the TFTP software to upgrade to one of the newer 5.3 firmwares, but the TFTP software never sees the camera. I can see the camera from the same computer with the SADP software and even tried to set the camera IP to 192.0.0.68 using that tool, but TFTP just reports "initialized" with IP of 192.0.0.128. I've tried two windows computers (same result) and using a POE injector instead of a POE switch (as suggested previously) and turned off windows firewall entirely. Used windows 10 and 11, same results.

Can anyone help me? I've already spent two days on this. Thanks

These may be Chinese cameras, in which case they will reject EN/ML firmware.
This can probably be confirmed by checking the letters in the serial number - can you supply a sample?
If so, the brickfix method could be used to change the camera region / language.
The language can also be confirmed by inspection of the contents of mtd6 as per the method of this thread.

When you try the tftp method, how are the computer and camera connected to each other? Direct ethernet with a cross over cable? Network switch? I have experienced problems with the tftp server not finding the camera with certain netgear switches even though the computer could see it in SADP.

I figured it out actually - I factory reset the camera via the web GUI (which I had not previously done) and when it came back up, the TFTP program finally found it and installed version 5.3.
After a few reboots I could see the camera accepted 5.3 via the SADP program and was able to access the web GUI again.
I could then upgrade the camera via the firmware files provided in the start of this thread all the way to 5.4.800 with just the webGUI.
Unfortunately to add ONVIF functionality I think I needed at least v5.5 on the camera, but it doesn't appear they made that upgrade for my camera.

Thanks for the response!

Well done for sorting that out.

I have a vague recollection that on that firmware ONVIF is a standard feature that does not need to be explicitly enabled.
How are you testing for ONVIF capability?
If you haven't already tried it, ONVIF Device Manager (sourceforge) works well to find ONVIF devices.

Hi All

I have the following cameras and I'm trying to use the brick fix V2 to upgrade without any success.

I used Windows XP, Windows 7, and now Linux with Scott py script

It is a Chinese version converted to English by the sound of it

Can anyone provide some guidance on the next step ?

ModelDS-2CD3132F-IWS
Serial No.DS-2CD3132F-IWS20150828CCCHxxxx
Firmware VersionV5.2.5 build 141201
Encoding VersionV5.0 build 140714

FYI the cameras are working fine, I just don't like the firmware version.

Thanks

What step have you tried so far?
I use the brick V2 firmware , try both the english and Chinese version

I have connected my laptop to a stand-alone POE switch with PC on 192.0.0.128 and cam on 192.0.0.64 with HIk TFTP , no success

tried on 192.168.1.128 also no success

tried on WinXP, on windows 7 and finally on Ubuntu with Scott python script

SAPD can see the cam and I can also ping it but the TFTP refuse to work

If your camera is still working, you just need to flash it with the suggested firmware from this article
after that, your camera will become European forever.
