Thanks - have been wondering if they were top/bottom or spaced both on the bottom like the Z version. When you have had the ZE IR on, have you noticed any real difference in IR coverage?
Nope, to my old eyes they seem pretty much equal.

For basic home user, Is it worth paying the extra to buy the ze or is it just a wider zoom? Any other noticeable features?

My opinion is no. Slightly wider zoom, slightly longer telephoto, very slightly better at night.
But, I don't see any reason to not buy it, to me it comes down to aesthetics.
Yes, will post it online for selling, have some stock now.The epoe switches this new of line of cams use are now listed.PFL2106-4ET-96 - Dahua Technology
DO you have to use the Dahua poe switches or can you use your own.. ?
Great review Looney! I guess you were not able to test the long POE cable length capability?? Glad to see there is now an option for long POE applications.
If you are in wide angle view I am not really satisfied with the ir coverage of the r-z one. It has too much ir power in front, and much less over 80°. But you can see it only when looking in rooms p.e. I your example with looking in the distance it´s not possible to be noticed.Nope, to my old eyes they seem pretty much equal.
IF you have a long distance foe the Poe power supply, then use the special POE switch, or else use normal one is fine. But normal one normally support 130-150metersInfo in the first post.

But one thing is much more interesting for me. The ir night focus point problem of the zoom lens cams is wrong, dahua hasn´t released a firmware fix for it, although the problem and a solution is well know to there engineer.
Your night IR still picture is looking washed out like out of focus. Can you please have a look at the night focus point ? And how it changes after releasing day auto focus at night ir view? And then at daytime do the same thing. I bet you will be noticing the same annoying problem...
The day time pictures without sun are looking a bit too much WDR affected (flat low contrast), your WDR value is set above 20?
Dahua is promising a real technical breakout with 800m epoe @ 10mbit and 13W (or 300m with higher bandwith 100mbit and 25,4W) I hope this is not only theoretical It would be nice to see some experiences on this feature. On the other side it´s a dahua only feature, so we are fixed on dahua epoe components. It´s non standard, nothing I really like. It´s maybe in the future after warrenty replacing parts being a big problem.
