Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

There is a temperature overlay you can turn on. It runs fairly hot. I haven't disabled the fan but I am sure someone has or replaced it.

Cool. I didn't know this. Just turned it on. It's 56 here and camera temp is 93.

Wait, there is a fan inside the camera?

67 degrees here in Fla and mines showing 122 degrees. It routinely runs 130-160 degrees in the summer

I enabled the overlay and mine is sitting at 131* F (55* C). While it's indoors, I am using the recessed mount, so it's half in the attic, although under 18" of blown in insulation. Looking at the Dahua datasheet, it says the operating temperature is up to 65* C, so I've got 10* of headroom, but that's not much. It's unlikely I could clip the fan, which leaves either trying to add a voltage regulator to drop the RPM (or find some way to modify speed via CLI/SSH/etc.), or swap out the fan altogether with something else.

I will admit that I have a Mini PTZ that the fan was going bad on, So I thought I would try to run it without it for a short time while I waited for a replacement that I ordered from Noctua and the camera lasted about 40 to 60 seconds after it booted up before it went offline.. So I put the bad fan back in and dealt with the noise until the new fan got here.. Have had to replace a few of my Samsung camera fans but they are very old cameras so what do I expect they have lasted me much longer then they were designed to last I am guessing lol..

I wouldn't disable it, there is a reason for the fan, maybe replace it with a good Noctua fan HERE
Yea, if I was going to replace it with anything, it was going to be a Noctua.

Has anyone done a fan replacement for this camera or know the right fan size? Are they all fairly standard?

I want to try and get all the information first before I go up and pull the camera down, as I want to know if it’s possible first. The plastic flush mount ring seems to be a consumable as the grommets I think you have to cut/break to remove it and I don’t want to have to buy another one or design/3d print one for no reason.
