SD6AL433XA-HNR Laser PTZ Tracking Issue

I am uploading 3 different videos from last night (hopefully - new modem should fix past upload issues, will see), the first is possibly too bright and tracking did not work.

The second one below is better but no tracking. The tracking issue could have been me in there tampering with the camera while she was walking. The house is 600 feet from the camera and she got within 300 feet of the camera before she went out of frame.

The third video shows the tracking working but not well.

Here are my settings from last night. My plan is for you guys to give me some setting changes to make and I'll make those changes and try it again tonight and see how the changes improve the performance and I will get closer than 300 feet from the camera.

The videos were perfect in SmartPSS when I watched them but when they are exported you get these fast-forward bursts for a second or two, any idea what is causing that?

Sorry but not impressed whatsoever with any of the night clips. I would put some addition lighting to the area.

Agree but no additional (white) lighting is allowed. There are no outside lights in this entire area, you may notice in the video, as she was walking last night I was talking to her on her phone's earbuds telling her to go left or right due to how dark it is with no moonlight or flashlight. It's a very unique installation that requires a different strategy to make the most of what you have available.

Agree with @looney2ns - you are hindering the light it needs. It can do MUCH better. You’re not capturing license plates, the camera needs lots of IR light, and clear definition of objects.

DO THESE BEFORE DARK

In addition/seconding his suggestions:

  • Exposure manual 1/60 or custom range 0-16.67
  • Turn off HLC no need for it darkens things
  • Turn off PFA
  • Turn off Digital zoom
  • Focus Sensitivity- Default -not low
  • IR to zoomPrio
  • Gamma 50
  • Sharpness 40 ( some turn it way down for plates but not for humans)

Show us your IVS zone and IVS settings

Agree on all above - HLC is not your friend with no ambient light out there. That is killing the video quality.

In addition (bigredfish was faster than me LOL):
  • Turn off digital zoom
  • PTZ zoom speed to 80 or 90
  • Turn off PFA
  • Focus mode semi auto
  • Laser - either Smart or full on. Until you get face washout and need to back down (which probably won't happen at that distance), blast the area with laser light.
Regarding autotracking - same things I mentioned to you previously - the field of view has to be such that the camera doesn't have to pan too much up or down or left to right to start the tracking. The subject is picked up and immediately to center the subject that big ole tree is in view and will lock on that all night long. The closer the subject is to the middle of the field of view when the tracking starts, the more consistent the tracking will be.

Agree with showing us the IVS zones and settings. Also, do you have a SD card in the camera - I have found that to be a great tool as you can playback with the IVS rules turned on and you can see what the camera is locking into.

And yeah cut down that tree. I’ve got one being cut down for that same reason

Ok so leave all of the settings alone as in #3. None of those will make a huge diff.

At this point it’s all about getting more IR on target. Likely you are past max distance for SmartIR or zoomPrio

Go back to the laser setting for IR like you had used for the mannequin. Play with that intensity and angle .

Recall the deer at 200 ft worked well. But now that you’re at 600 ft+ you are out of IR range. The laser setting is what’s going to make a difference and adjusting your fov (zoom level) to it. You are pushing the limits on distance

You can certainly try increasing Gain and Iris as well.

That tree is going to be problematic.

Open the Iris to 100.

Try increasing gain.

You may need additional IR at that distance.

You will probably have to go with a slower shutter range to get enough light into the camera at that distance. Try 0-33.333ms
