The new updated android app has been pushed to the play store

You phone is set to a high level of zoom for the display. Reduce it. The app is not scaling properly.
I don't use any zoom app, and I don't see zoom in settings.
android 6.01

Look for the accessibility settings. There is a screen zoom setting there in the factory android settings.
No zoom options/settings in accessibility. I newer used zoom and even no finding this option.
Until latest UI update was no problems.

I have taken the path of some others. I have dumped the new version in favor of side loading the older version. For me the new version's interface was a bit messed up and certainly not better than the older interface in any important ways. Also, I could not get the new version to work with stunnel which was the deal breaker for me. This might have been due to the new BI App not accepting stunnel self signed certificates which are common with stunnel users. For whatever reasons the new version of the Android BI App doesn't work well for me so I've moved back to an older version that at least works as expected with stunnel.

I wish I could report no problems, but regrettably I must say it is a bit of a hot mess for me right now.
App version 3.0.14, BI 5.3.9.8 .

1. When it loads, it changes my server's Schedule to Default - e.v.e.r.y. time. Ditto when I restore it from background.
2. When I do change the Schedule via the dropdown, the Profile field sometimes updates, sometime not.
3. The Schedule field label overflows (see attached screenshot).
4. In the Camera tab, when I view a group, I cannot select a camera in the group. To view the desired camera, I must scroll through the list and select it.
5. When I playback an alert and hit Pause, the frame-by-frame back button acts like the forward button.
UPDATES:
6. I cannot scroll down on the home screen to access the settings gear icon (see screenshot). Therefore, among other things, I cannot set the geofence.

That's the list for right now. I'm continuing to test.
I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app without improvement.
I've already emailed these observations to Ken.
My device is a GalaxyS9, Model SM-G960U, running Android 10.

I have the same issue on my Samsung S10e

My phone looked the same. No zoom. Looks like they wanted to make the Android app look like the Apple app. I'll pass as I've went back to version 2.

No, its zoomed in. Otherwise how do you explain that I can replicate the issue by zooming in and when I zoom out I have those options...
keep bitching about it, wont change a thing....

Opening the app was surprising this morning... I don't know, it's just... ugly. It was never the most modern looking app previously, but I think this is a step backwards. I'm going to give it a little time to mature, but good to know there is the sideloading option to get the old version back.

Aside from cosmetic issues, the only real issue is that Chromecasting is no longer working via the app. It connects to the Chromecast, but it shows a blank screen with the camera's name in an overlay, and it will stay connected... but the video stream never shows up. This used to work great.

I'm not using Stunnel for https... I have it behind my own reverse proxy (HAProxy). I know casting only works over https.

Anyway, hope like all major updates that it will smooth out in time. They could definitely use some more finesse on the UI side.

This is ridiculous there is no updates for ages then when they do update it is Buggy as hell and Stunnel doesn't work. The developer of this app is clearly incopetent and not in the same level of quality as the Blue Iris program. Let's just give low reviews and warn other people in the app store so we can atleast avoid other people from buying this and being ripped off too.

It seems to me that apps should respond to my phone’s global display settings, not via versa.

It is regrettable that in order to use this app (when I do re-install it) I should have to strain my senior eyes with smaller font sizes in every OTHER app on my phone.

It is obviously a bug. What surprising to me is that the folks here have yet to learn to use basic common sense and not update an app immediately after release to a brand new version. Then they bitch and moan about it.

As for me, I fully understand how this works; I’m a beta tester and I don’t mind.
Every observation I‘ve shared here I’ve also shared with Ken.
I know he wants the best possible user experience.

I've always used auto-update on my phone for years and this is the first app that I had to roll-back to an older version. My expectations are high as this is THE most expensive app on my phone. I've disabled auto-update to stop Blue Iris from updating. Probably auto updated 100's of times and this is THE only app that failed to the point of having to remove it. BUGGY AND UGLY....

NOTE: Same issues with the upgrade on my Android tablet. I didn't roll it back yet as I want to see if they ever get it working right. Still has the same issues that I reported last October and was told the upgrade would fix it. NOT!

Not bitching... Just providing facts and the option on to get around this buggy and ugly upgrade. Guess we were all beta testers for this.

I did provide support with details of my issues (and the issues that carried over from V2) and provided debug log. My personal opinion of the update being UGLY was not part of my support ticket. I provided info that I thought would help Ken get this fixed.

Awwww you spent 10 whole dollars on the app and its ugly and buggy and dont want to wait? You cheap fuck. Blue iris is a steal at 60 dollars plus 10 for the app. I have been using the old version and new version of the app with no issues.
Go use another VMS, all those have ZERO issues...The apps are PERFECT! Zero bugs, updated every month and custom designed to your taste. The price might shock you though..

For comparison, when the new version of the iOS app was released last year it too had a number of bugs, but the dev has released quite a few (and frequent) updates to the iOS app addressing those issues. I'd expect the same for this Android version in the coming weeks and months. I sent a lot of emails to BI support while I was testing the iOS app and all my issues were addressed in later updates, so don't hesitate to email with your concerns.

As with anything that's mission-critical, it's smart to disable auto-updates and review them manually before installing. I sometimes wish the app stores had a more robust versioning system to choose your upgrade path, but then again simple is often better.

i don't let anything auto update on my phone or my computers. Why would I want to update crap I don't want or use in the first place? It takes a whole ten seconds to scan the list of available updates and select those that are really needed on a phone. BFD.

Just received this reply from Support... the numbers reference my list in <this post> above.

Per engineering:
1. Fixed in 3.0.16
2. Fixed in 3.0.16
3. Fixed in 3.0.16
4. Cannot reproduce. Longpress camera in group to open camera.
5. Fixed in 3.0.17 - (Next version. Might push this later tonight, depending on how many other issues come in)
6. Fixed in 3.0.16
Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback!
-- Sam.

I’ll wait another update cycle before testing again.

@looney2ns Where's the fun in that?

For what I use the app for, monitoring the BI machine, it's been working fine. I like the utilitarian looks, who needs bells and whistles? The new version snaps on the screen, way faster than the old one so I'm pretty happy with it. In terms of looking at video, UI3 is a lot more convenient but there is a big difference in resolution with the app being much better, at least to my worn out old eyes.
