Thanks Milk, but I think it will be fine either way. My primary requirement is the form factor and the Alarm contact... The audio was an extra that would be useful, but not the main requirement... I'll let you know either way what I find.

Mine wasn't too bad. I am about 150' from the street and cars sound fairly clear with the volume on the cam turned up. If you use the environment canceling filter, the quality is not as good.

Just a quick update; I got mine installed at the front door and I am pretty happy with the built in audio.. I can hear pretty clearly someone talking in my driveway up to about 20' or so.. Gets a bit muffled after that, but I don't really care beyond 5-10' away anyways...

Great little camera BTW... I still need to setup the alarm output, but I am pretty happy otherwise.

Hi. I'm surprised to find so little documentation on this. But I'm basically trying to connect this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002S4G870/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to this:
http://www.hikvision.com/en/products_show.asp?id=8724

Using this cable:
http://www.amazon.com/IEC-Speaker-Wire-Male-Cable/dp/B003U44LA8/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1402257514&sr=1-7&keywords=Speaker+Wire+Pair+with+RCA+Males

...which I have connected one wire to Line Mic L and the Other to Line Mic R on the camera's convoluted pigtail. What I get is a barely audible desired audio and a very undesired overpowing HUM. I'm guessing this has something to do with not wireing the ground wire to something? Any thought would be very much appreciated.
I'm having difficulty trying to add aa002 microphone http://www.sct.com.tw/Product-200962914445.html to Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-IS then off to Swann NVR 87200. Was told this combination works but cant seem to figure it out..Any help would be appreciated

I am also trying to add
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to a HikVision DS-2CD2132F or DS-2DE4582A, both had microphone input, output and ground terminals. There is no Mic - to twist with the ground cable and I am just getting a lot of noise as if it has a poor ground connection. I have tried the mic cables in every combination. Anyone have any idea how to get rid of the noise.

The mic is working by the way and I can hear talking from a good 10m away but just with a lot of noise.
