I just bought my first turret and Dahua at the same time, 5231R-Z. Andy was Johnny on the spot with emails. I hope shipping goes as well, one of my existing cameras bit the bullet the other day and I feel half blind now.

Shipping is outstanding! Ordered Saturday, delivered today. Six days from end to end and we're having a snowstorm on this end. I was surprised to see DHL pull into the driveway.

you guys not online too much these days, lol. comes a newer one IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. But the IPC-HDW5231R-Z still be one of the best cams from dahua.
The cam works great, my only problem so far is when it sends email photo's, I can't view them on yahoo mail under all photo's. Photos also don't display on my android phone with the yahoo mail app. The photo's show up as .jpg but are somehow different. With my other cameras, when I click on photo's on yahoo mail, I can see all photo's in one place from all cam's, in small thumbmails so I can check for movement on hundreds of photo's fast.
I also get 3 emails per photo, (two alerts with no photo and one email with photo) but I can live with this i guess.
Any ideas on why yahoo mail doesn't like these .jpg's? I'd prefer to use gmail, but there is no way to view all photos from every email at once with gmail.

- Switch uplink --> second NIC on my home server (i.e. segregated from my main network)
- Home server runs Blue Iris in a Windows virtual machine

I just got my camera up and running, temporarily until the weather clears (read snow melts). Using a fixed IP address for the camera from the factory just seems a little dumb to me. Why DHCP couldn't be the default to make things easier to configure beats the heck out of me. Yeah, I know how to access and change it, but why have to jump through an unnecessary hoop?
The config tool, version 4, didn't work at all. I had to access the camera through the web interface to set the IP address to match my network scheme. I get a message from Norton that the plugin needed to view the live stream has malware in it. Not very impressed, so far with the software.
I added it to BI and it works fine. The video quality and color rendering are superb. Zoom works very nicely both from the console and from UI3. The build of the camera is quite good, all metal, and I love the use of a TORX screw rather than a typical hex. Overall, I'm quite happy other than the software problems.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to mount it outside and get an idea of real world performance.

What is the advantage of running the switch Uplink link setup?

Thanks. I've used BI in the past and generally think it works great. I've had some hiccups though with the Win10 VM that it runs under.
I'm paranoid about IoT devices and don't like the idea of my cameras being exposed to the rest of the network. This way I can contain the cameras just to my Windows VM. I'm actually typing this while wearing my tinfoil hat.

Dont run BI or any vms in a vm, problem solved..
