Thanks.
but disconnecting the chime here mean that the AC>DC adapter will be eliminated too

Just opened my chime, its 7.5v output apparently, according to the labels under the hood.. While the multimeter show only 0.4mv for some reason.

The cam requires 16 to 24 volts AC, so if your transformer that came with the chime is only 7.5VAC, then that is most likely the issue. Is your chime a mechanical one?

As far as measuring voltage, make sure you are using the correct settings on the VOM (that's Voltage Ohm Meter for those in Rio Linda), it should be set to AC voltage....check while the cam is connected.

Lol, I've figured out that such low voltage is always DC. just checked again and its reading 7.65V ac :)

Thanks for the tips!

When someone rings my bell and the Guarding Vision app comes up, there is a little cloud icon in the lower left corner of the video which I believe indicates that the video is being transmitted over the "cloud" (i.e. transmitted over the internet). This happens for me even when my phone is on the same wifi as the doorbell. Is this the same for everyone? I'm wondering why it is sending the video over the internet even if I'm on the local wifi and what I can do to change this.

Upgrade to the latest firmware. If not available on the app, you can download it here. Format the sd card, put the file in the card and hold the reset button until it restart. It will take a while to update the firmware.
Mind if I ask where you grabbed this from?

Since this is from November, I'm assuming this firmware is pre-12 fps? Is there a copy after the 12 fps downgrade?

Ideally, it'd be nice to get copies of the firmware immediately before and after the change (in hopes of doing some reverse engineering). Anyone have other copies of the firmware images?

Edited to add: I found 171201 and 171218 (when 12 fps was introduced). Does anyone have a copy of 171205?

I've not been keeping up with this thread, has the kinks for this been pretty well ironed out?
Since I am guessing you are considering this deal, I figured although I don't own one, I would respond. In my opinion, I would say the kinks still exist. IR cannot be turned off, but is supposedly coming in a firmware update from Nelly's Security. Some say IR reflections improve by cleaning both sides of the lens after removing the plastic, of course. Personally, I am waiting on the sidelines, and plan to get another Dahua Starlight at my front door before I would add another doorbell camera. I have a Skybell HD currently.

That is my $.02, but maybe some owners will "chime" in.

I'll pass, I've had enough "kinks" to last me a while when reviewing the DB10. ;)

I got the $99 LaView from newegg and it has been working great since I installed it about 2 weeks ago. My goal was to add a face level camera to my front door coverage, and it has done great at that. My camera network is separated from the internet (My BI machine has 2 NICs to access my cam network and the internet), so I don't use the calling feature. I never signed-up for an online account. I only used the Hik-Connect app to configure the WiFi and I have used either the web page or the Hik BatchConfigTool to edit any settings.
I can't say how the motion detection is, because I have my BI trigger recording and alerts based on the motion from my other front door cameras to cut down on the false-positives from cars driving by. I turned down the volume on the door bell in the settings, so I haven't heard any announcements coming from it.
My transformer is a 16 vAC 10 VA and my camera WiFi router (Asus RT-AC87U) is about 15 feet from the wall the doorbell cam is mounted on. My porch light is mounted above the doorbell, so I haven't seen the IR ever come on. The camera is in color and looks great all night. I did have to add the August doorbell resister to stop my doorbell chime from buzzing.
Overall, it has been a great, cloud-free addition to my BI network.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Ring doorbell and its terrible. 99% of my videos start with someone walking away from my house. I went ahead and bought a bunch of Dahua cameras from EMPIRETECANDY, so I should have pretty good porch coverage, but my wife does like to be notified by phone when the door bell rings when we are away. So i'll give this little LaView cam a shot. Will be nice to cancel the small, yet recurring fee from ring also.

I've had pretty much the same experience, but I've had mine for several months now. I don't use BI, but my porch is well let, no IR, full color night, and pic quality is great. Recording to NVR 24x7. I don't answer doorbell with my phone, volume is turned now, no doorbell buzzing, etc.

Only issue for me is that my motion alerts do seem to just "turn off" every 3-5 days. I have to go into the web interface and turn them back on. Other than that, very happy. I replaced a skybell HD, and would not go back. Of course, it depends on your location of your doorbell, your equipment at home, and your needs.

Are you using Android or iOS? The ring did not come through as phone ringer but as media volume, if you are like me on Android and muted most of the time, there is app that can adjust volume on a per app basis

IOS, but I didn't have a problem with the volume. I had a problem that my recordings didnt start soon enough. Way too much delay and rather than seeing someone walk up to my porch, I often only saw them after they walked up, turned around and then walked away. Hopefully the LaView has a bit less delay before recording. But either way, I think i'll have my porch covered much better now with the new IP cameras when they get here.

Sorry I meant in this Hikvision unit the doorbell ring time does not come through the phone as phone call ringer but media volume like music

Camera 3 2018-03-23-00-15-21.jpg It appears my IR stopped working, anyone else have this issue yet? Is there a way to reboot the camera without having to remove the cover and reset it? For what it's worth the image/video quality is just as bad without IR at night.

You can reboot the device from the System>>>Maintenance tab in the Web interface. Just type the cam's IP address into IE or Chrome (Chrome won't show the live preview).
