Building a new house and need IP cams. Which Starlight model should I go with now that gives good day/night coverage? I've wired for a separate IR illuminator for each location as well. Thanks

These are probably the two most popular:

And there's this recent one with no IR support at all, but a little better low-light color vision, which should be good if you have any always-on visible light in the area.

Always like the build process! Great chance to properly wire the home. Remember to over cable, and do share some of the cabling work to give others an idea of what to do here.

Yep, I have a separate thread where I'll be posting some pictures. I've run 44 drops so far for AV, Network, Cameras etc.

Does the SD card also not make it possible to record without using NVR and having PoE as long as there is another power source?

the easiest option if you want it to work during a power outage is to plug the NVR into a UPS.

you might Frankenstein a UPS with multiple batteries if you want a larger battery capacity.(there are plenty of how-tos / this-will-void-your-warranty kind of things about getting a couple of deep cycle marine batteries hanging off a UPS.

Unless you expect your outages to be longer than you can run with your battery capacity, why are your trying to add solar to this solution ?

Unless you expect your outages to be longer than you can run with your battery capacity, why are your trying to add solar to this solution ?

The power cuts are frequent and long like 8-9 hours. My UPS is enough for 70 minutes for NVR and 4 cameras but I intend to add 4 cameras. Solar power reduces electricity bill and if enough capacity the excess can even be sold daytime. I have found large capacity UPSs on line but if there is a problem returning one to China will cost a lot. A Frankenstein UPS might be better. Thanks.

On Aliexpress I would only look at XinRay or Empire. My dealing with both have only been good.

You can install an SD card into the cam, and record to it and use all features. You can access the recordings on the SD card via the WebGui or SmartPSS.
