With the exception of Audio noise reduction turned off, time set, and channel name entered,
All settings at default.
Camera video recorded and exported from Blue Iris.

Be sure to choose 4k for play back of the last two videos.
Me walking up to camera activating PIR and siren.

In this video, when you hear the hissing noise, that is when the alarm is sounding.

Can it be set that it work like a motion detect light, just comes on and stay on without the siren to get a color picture at night? Also, it'll attract thier attention making them look at camera full face on too.

Yes, will test that tonight.
I doubt the white light is bright enough for a usable color pic. But I'll see.

My experience mirrors @looney2ns ... it wasn't bright enough for a usable color pic. My camera's on the porch and a decent distance from the person though (about 20 feet), so I'm curious to see if it works differently for others.

I know some of this can be changed in the WebUI, but my camera takes about 6 seconds after the light comes on and the camera switches to color, then it takes another second or two for the camera to stabilize in color. Chances of someone up to no good still looking at the camera for that many seconds is probably low. I wonder if I can replace the alarm audio file with one that repeats "wait for it..." until the camera has stabilized in color mode? :)

I ended up setting the Night profile to make the camera stay in B/W mode and then using DahuaSunriseSunset to switch the camera between the Day and Night profiles.

@looney2ns thanks for the review. Are you able to set the cam to color mode all the time? When you forced it to color at night in the video above, was the cam light turned on? If not, maybe it can help show a persons' face.

Yes I do, I will do that when the weather breaks.
Let me know what you would like to see.
Thanks @looney2ns

On another forum a member posted a daytime image from the Lorex version of this camera, and due to the wide FOV lens there is a fisheye effect
https://slickdeals.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7812253&d=1547839174

Would be very nice to see how the OEM version compares ( thus would be useful to have a yard stick or similar straight edge along the sides to see any possible distortion )

Also would be nice to see how it compares to the newer 8MP cameras and 2MP starlights in day and night time. Perhaps a case of soda or something in the view would be useful to use to compare image quality capture on a stationary image. This way people are able to compare the ability to read the text on the case.

great image quality...how do you feel this cam would be as an upgrade of a 5231 2mp starlight?
