Well... I kept digging and now it is doubtful I'm getting out of the hole without substantial assistance.
To recap, and correct a previous post I have always been on firmware : DH_SD-Mao-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_IVS_V2.623.0000000.7.R.181124.bin
Hoping to correct the problem I was having I rolled the dice and flashed : System Version2.622.0000000.7.R.R4.2510.9A.NR, Build Date: 2018-04-04
After the downgrade flash - the video had vertical lines . Reflashed with the same 2.622, video image went all white. Crap, reset all values to factory default and reflashed again. Same result. White video stream.

Attempted to flash back to _V2.623.0000000.7.R.181124.bin. Never did take. Not sure why, it completed and rebooted but still showed 2.622. Video still all white

In a panic hail Mary, I reflashed with Version:V2.600.0000.2.R.20170905. This is the version currently on Duaha's website for this camera (SD49225T-HN,SD49225T HN,SD49225THN)
Now I seem bricked. Camera connects to network with the default address, no open ports shown with port scanner. Can ping with reply. Config tool finds the camera sometimes, but unable to flash using this tool(get login error)
Hard to say but seems like both hardware and firmware issues.

Config tool can find the camera but unsuccessful trying to flash. Cant establish connection. I believe I don't have any open ports into the camera. Have tried multiple versions of the config tool. Not that familiar with config tool. May need some other means of flashing.

Hello.

Short Version:
My Dahua SD49225T-HN camera powers up and appears to go through its startup normally, but it does not appear to the Dahua DH-NVR5216-16P-4KS2 even though the NVR is providing the power to it directly via POE. Any troubleshooting tips to try (after rebooting and reconnecting multiple times)?

Long Version:
I need some advice on how to go about troubleshooting a Dahua SD49225T-HN 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera connected to a DH-NVR5216-16P-4KS2 (Dahua 16/32CH 1U 16PoE 4K&H.265 Network Video Recorder).

I bought these almost 2 years ago, and they've been working together just fine since installation. However 3 days ago the camera display went black, and the NVR no longer acknowledges that the camera is even a device on the network to communicate with (the two are connected directly via a 50 foot Ethernet cable).
  • The Cable: The cable works anywhere else I use it, so it's not the issue:
  • The Camera: did it fail? And, how do I troubleshoot that (without another POE source to swap in)?
  • The NVR: have the powered ports failed? And how to test them (without another POE camera/device at hand)?
I'm computer and gear savvy, but I've had little exposure to this kind of gear other than my initial purchase and install, which went without a hitch.

P.S. A bit more info:

1. The NVR appears to work fine: past footage is still present and playable, up to the moment the camera went black (no forewarning, it just goes from picture to black).

Can anyone point me along the right path, or whether there's a software tool to talk to the gear and find out more?

Thank you.

I have also one 49225 not responing any more on IP level. When i reset the POE power from the switch port it does its startup sequence so it seems to be alive for that part.
Network is a ubiquty unifi 24 port 250 Watt switch. The other 49225 and other cams work ok.

Would a hard reset be helpfull ? If i take it down, i can try another cable also i guess.

More times than not, this boils down to a bad cable or connection.
The connection wasn't properly waterproofed, water got in and fried the jack and or the camera.
Never use copper clad aluminum wire, only solid copper of 23awg or 24awg wire size.
Use a dab of Die-electric grease on the male portion of the RJ45 prior to inserting into the camera connection.
Wrap connection with vulcanized tape such as coax seal.

Hello!
I have had this camera for a few days. I am excited about the picture quality. For Information, this is the WiFi Version. SD49225t-hn-w
I have two problems though.

1. If I want to access the camera with my camera app "tinyCam Monitor", I often have the problem that the camera is not accessible. If I call then only once with a Browser the IP address of the camera, the call works over the app again without problems. Very strange but also very annoying! The problem occurs only with this model, in my other dahua cameras, the problem does not occur.

2. If I look at the live image, whether via the app or the browser, then I have a few seconds short stopp. I mean that the picture does not run smoothly when there are movements. I now tried every video setting but no matter what I set, the problem is not resolved. No matter if resolution, bandwidth etc.!

There is a possibility to display the live image in chrome? For my other dahua cameras there is a new firmware, so it works fine.

Hope someone can help me with the problems and questions.

Wifi for security cams is a bad idea. How many cams do you have running on Wifi? That very well could be the problem.
Use one of the lower bit rate substreams for the camera feed in Tinycam.

Hi,
Only this camera is wifi and have a own accesspoint from unifi.
I have the same Problem with any Resolution and bandwith

EDIT:
it's all very strange.
During the day I have these jerks, but when it is dark and the infrared mode is on, I have a smooth playback.

Thanks to Andy I picked up a refurbished SD49225T-HN, and i finally installed it today. Was supposed to wait until the house was stripped and repainted but i could not let this camera sit any longer. I had it in night mode with IR from the camera on, but then switched it into day mode which is what i will be running it in. Very pleased with the images from this camera. It is on default settings i will be playing with the setting over the week.

Nice setup. This is what everyone's corner of the house should look like.

My first night License Plate Reading from this PTZ Camera. The weird looking light in the top left corner is a stop sign. I am using the ir light from the Camera. This is at slow speeds as this is a 4 way stop sign, so the speed is under 10 for the rolling stoppers. It would be ok if they all stop but they do not always stop so i will see if i can get a picture of any that just run right through the stop sign. The scene is so dark i notice the trigger does not work, i am able to get the footage because i have continuous recording on.

After going over the footage again i realized the car was going pretty fast through that stop sign and the SD49225T-HN was able to capture the plate at night with just the camera IR. Pretty impressive. It is the first picture in post 2351.

Same settings from last night, it switched to day automatically. Here are a few catches from this morning. I notice as the truck goes across from the left the cam is a little high, i will pan down a bit and see if i still get good shots from the street facing the cam. Notice the plate on the red truck, so dangerous. A low speed accident and that plate is cutting some flesh in that cabin pretty bad.

Yes it is a great low budget I picked up from Andy as a refurbished unit and it was a little over 200 dollars. It's doing what i want for right now so I am happy. I will see if i can get it to work with one of the LPR software programs. Here are the settings as of now and from last night, i didn't change anything. I thought i would have to set a day night schedule so that it would change but i didn't have to.

Caught speeder in my neighborhood. Blowing past stop sign, PTZ caught the plate. I will be sending it to my local police department. I have been asking them to sit at this corner to write tickets. They would meet their quota in one day.

I'm so jealous, I've only got 2 cams on the front of my house!
