What a dogshit article. Exactly the thing that is dividing the nation. Racism is hating someone based off their race. This is simply profiling based off assumption.
Agreed @Angel_Eater

Vox has really jumped on the SJW / politically correct BS bandwagon.
( no pass for any group failing to provide soap in bathrooms, and failing to use a 10:1 water to chlorine mix to disinfect meat markets .. )

I think what @Arjun shared was significantly better. ( seriously, do check out the video if you have not yet... some of the most sound summary on the topic imho I have heard )

Bigotry, xenophobia and tribalism are all based upon the same thing ,and they are indirect, albeit generally accurate, measurements of intellect.

The higher one's intelligence, the less of these fear based characteristics we find.

There's a reason a bottle of shampoo says "wet hair first"... and a cup of McDonald's coffee says "Caution Hot".. and why a shower cap says "Fits one head only".

Not everyone in society is quick to assimilate information and adapt. Like dogs, some humans are a bit slower to learn than others.

He can't ship them, because Dahua isn't manufacturing them. They've been closed for two weeks.
He has also stated there is a shortage of the image chips, before the virus ordeal ever started.
I hope I didnt come across as being impatient. I didn't know anything about a chip shortage but, global pandemic is already a sufficient reason to delay shipping a few days in my mind.

Here is a link to a well-informed site :

If the face-mask has not specifically been made for use in infectious situations (we talk about a virus here, not bacteria), they are useless.
And indeed, as for now, infection is transmitted by droplets (coughing, sneezing, ...) and via the faecal-oral route.
So the old hygienic measures : do not spit, cough behind your hand, sneeze in your handkerchief, WASH your hands after using toilet or public transportation, before eating, wash fruit and vegetables, ... still are valid.

DO NOT PANIC !

This appears to me to be a common logical fallacy which goes by the name of the "Hasty Generalization" ("a general statement without sufficient evidence to support it").
...Racism is hating someone based off their race. This is simply profiling based off assumption.
Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Is not racism simply profiling based upon an ignorant assumption...or profiling based on ignorance?

Hikvision sales are a sizable portion of our business. I contacted my distributors today and a couple of them expressed concern about replenishment of stock. Hikvision has factories/offices in Zhejiang and Hubei provinces, both are on lock down due to COVID-19. No doubt the virus will have an impact on many businesses in the coming months.

Well I'm not the only one not buying official Chinese numbers. (Note for those who believe ZE to be a Russian Spy Syndicate, the quotes are from CNBC and FOX News off the record with a White House source)
As if the huge jump overnight in confirmed cases didnt give a clue..

White House Doubts China's Numbers: 100,000 Coronavirus Cases Unreported
OH No, that huge spike in numbers is so clearly wrong.. so wrong that 2 Chinese officials in charge in Wuhan have been replaced.

This should teach officials to only produce proper numbers.... /s

"The firings came shortly before the World Health Organization on Thursday cautioned that the recent spike in cases was the result of new counting methods used by officials, and did not represent a change in "trajectory" of the outbreak. "

Mobile World Congress convention ( largest mobile tech convention in the world ) was cancelled due to Corona Virus ( COVID-19 ) concerns.

MWC phone show cancellation a 'nightmare' for firms

"Many big names pulled out of the event over concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

Organiser the GSMA said that meant it was "impossible" for the event to go ahead, adding it was a "dark day" in the history of the annual tech event."

The huge jump wasn't due to "confirmed cases". A confirmed case is one that has resulted in a positive laboratory test for the virus. The huge jump was due to a change in how they are counting as they have started including diagnostic conclusions that fit the virus now. No longer is a laboratory test required to be counted.

NOT EVERYTHING is a conspiracy.

Not everything is a conspiracy, but when you withhold vital statistics (or constantly change them) on a virus that started in your country and is now apparently out of your control, it makes people suspicious. Especially when it is now affecting the rest of the world.

Why hasn't the CDC been allowed to come over there and help? They are regarded as the best in the world when it comes to this stuff. They've offered. What's to hide? Why no transparency?

China does not have the best record on being truthful. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I dont trust their government and think this is much worse than they are telling everyone.

To allow the CDC to come into their country to help would be the same as saying "we are not capable of taking care of it ourselves". Its a sign of weakness and we wouldn't do any differently.. in fact, very few countries would do it unless they were part of some allied group, which China is not.

They have allowed the WHO to come in.

As for trusting them, most people don't even trust our own government, so that's not really a significant statement in that regard.

I said before, I'll say it again.. I think China is being as truthful as they can be.. That's not to say they are being accurate, but I don't think they're intentionally hiding anything for any conspiratorial reason. My guess is that they were overwhelmed and needed time to adjust the speed with which they started throwing resources at this.

I never brought up conspiracy, you did. I simply said and stand by the idea that the numbers we were seeing from China were not close to accurate. Go back and read.

I think over the last 48 hours the information is better. There is still a lot of uncertainty.

Zerohedge is a pro-Putin, pro-Russian website.. and apparently, so is the White House these days. Neither source has a shred of credibility.

Yes I get why they wont let them in. But I think it's already pretty obvious they "can't take care of themselves". Allowing their citizens to die to save face and figure it out themselves may be their strategy, but I'd have to disagree with you that our govt would not reach out for help if we were in over our heads. I'm one of those that doesn't fully trust our govt, but I can't believe they would not exhaust all options, even if non publicly.

My point was that you can't fault people for being suspicious when Chinese govt has not been transparent when lives are at stake.
