Australia. Think I'm wanting a few of them also for front, back and shed door.

May need to organise a 3rd party shipper

Hi everyone, sorry I'm trying to find the answer to a question but there's no many posts here it's difficult.

I've just installed the Ezviz DB1 replacing my previous Nest Hello. So far I really like it although it's not quite as polished at the Hello. There's one feature I'd really like to get working is having either Alexa (preferred) or Google make a sound when someone rings the doorbell. The Hello had this feature where it would recognise people but I'm not expecting that, just an alert, like a secondary chime. Is that possible?

DOORBELL 101

AMAZON ALEXA, GOOGLE HOME/ASSISTANT, & APPLE HOMEKIT:
EZVIZ DB1 (Alexa & Google works)
LaView ONE Halo (Alexa works)

ALEXA SKILLS/TIPS:
⦁ To Display on Alexa; RTSP feed from Doorbell to Amazon Echo Show via/thru Monocle - Threads to Follow; Old Monocle Thread or New Monocle Thread - pete_c
Turn Off Doorbell's Image/Video Encryption
(LINK LaView to Alexa) - It Works!
(LINK EZVIZ to Alexa) - It Works! (Note: IFTTT works for Motion Detection Alerting via Email/SMS or to turn On/Off camera for the HSDB2A) - Pilot04
(LINK RCA to Alexa) - Does Not Work unless you use secondary software like Monocle or MotionEye
(LINK Monocle to Alexa)

GOOGLE TIPS:
⦁ To Display on Google; Link EZVIZ account to Google Assistant via Google Home App, ReSync Google Devices in App, Turn off Doorbell's Image/Video Encryption in Doorbell App Settings, then Display Doorbell on Chromecast/TV or Levono Display - xaudiblex, xaudiblex, xaudiblex (FYI, I have not been successful to get this to work with LaView 190716 firmware on my LaView Doorbell), xaudiblex (upped screenshots) running EZVIZ 190708 firmware on his EZVIZ Doorbell and his works) (Seems to Only work on EZVIZ Doorbells - Mtoo22)
Nelly's firmware 190625 has been confirmed to work on a EZVIZ DB with Google Assistant, displaying on Google Hub and Chromecast/TV - lekham, lekham
(Link EZVIZ to Google)
Stream your Security camera via Google Home - Chromecast/TV Help

So I don’t want to view the camera on either. Just want an audible alert. I’ve enabled the Alexa Skill.

just an alert, like a secondary chime. Is that possible?

Today using an Amazon plugin for Home Assistant that does TTS or will do any commands sent to the Amazon from Home Assistant.

Alexa Media Player

Home Assistant

Recently an ONVIF-MQTT add on was provided by a user here on the forum. Combining both in a trigger you can do a TTS alert when someone approaches the doorbell.

If you have an Amazon Show you can utilize Monocle and do an pop up doorbell view when someone approaches the door.

Great. So I do have Home Assistant so I’ll look into that. Shame it’s not part of the Alexa skill.

Just looking at the dfarkov/onvif2mqtt container. I see two things that might not work for me.

Firstly, but Ezviz DB1 is stock with the standard firmware (not flashed) and the plugin seems to only work with the LaView firmware

Secondly, I want notifications when someone presses the doorbell, not motion and the documentation says motion only.

Trying to figure out the best combination of notification settings. I live in a city, and despite PIR setting to 5 feet I'm still getting false alarms every time any sort of large truck drives by (50+ times per day). I'm less concerned with stopping the false positives, but just trying to avoid receiving the iOS push notifications for PIR events, but still would like them to be logged so I can quickly review who has come to the door when I open the EZViz app.

Within EZViz app if I turn off Notifications it won't log the PIR events in app. Tried turning off notifications in iOS, which does achieve the goal with the PIR events, but then also won't alert when someone is ringing the doorbell so I can't answer. Digging back it seems like people using the LaView app have more nuanced notification settings compared to the notification setting with EZViz app, can anyone confirm that? Or has anyone found a solution to the big truck PIR false alarms?

A Relay switch should do the doorbell press for you. Several here has them setup. Not sure where you are from but I know alexdelprete is from Italy and has a Sage, not sure how he got it, I assume ebay.

Far harder than it needs to be.

I think I'll stick with the mechanical door chime until something better comes along. All I need is a trigger of some sort for Home Assistant. I already have the Alexa notification working.

The $5 sage sensor is a zigbee device and works quite well, if you have a zigbee controller. It's near real time in HA.

The issue is getting one in the UK. All it needs is IFTTT to send the notification to HA then HA can send it to Alexa. Shouldn't need another device...

This is really his answer, hopefully he can get one sent to the UK.
