Hi guys,

Pretty new with this. I got my vto and vth working.
Do you know if the vto records video with sound when somebody rings the bell?
I have the vto as doorbell installed in my dahua nvr. it records video of doorcam 24/7. In easy viewer pro i can see messages of when the doorbell was activated, but i cannot view a video of this moment?
See attachment: i would like to see a small video, when i select the message, so i can see who was at my door...

Am i missing something here?
Depending on your VTO type & NVR, this could work when pressing the button. On my VTO2000A however, it was not an option, so what I did was configure the VTO's channel to 24/7 record on the NVR. And yes, it does record all voices even when not pressing the ring button. You sometimes hear people effectively clearing their throat before pressing the button. Funny ;-)

But then indeed, you need to go into "replay" mode and to the timeslot when the button has been pressed. And then you can enjoy the show.

Good luck!

I did create another post for this but thought I'd post here also as this seems to be the main thread for issues with the VTO2202F-P

My Dahua VTO had been faultless for a year, but suddenly stopped working. It was powered over PoE, and still draws power, but there’s no data connection.
I think it’s not booting properly though, because the tamper alarm etc doesn’t work - I can’t reset it either by pushing that button 5 times.
The left hand LED on the front is very bright, the right hand one flashes very dimly. No idea what that means!
Same result when tried from 2 different PoE switches, or when powered from the 12v pins on the back and connected to switches/router by non-PoE connection.
Any ideas on what’s wrong or how to troubleshoot? (Or is it just ** ) Have tried multiple configurations of known working cables/PoE ports etc already.

Hi! I'm looking to do exactly this-- and it almost seems to work, but doesn't. . I have a 32gb microSD card in my VTO, and the setting under "Basic" says something like "Automatically Record Calls" which I have checked, and after each call the SD card stats show that it's being recorded.

But the screwy part is that the files don't show up when I plug the SD card in. There will be the 30kb snapshot but no DAV. Even weirder, is if I scan the SD card with a file recovery app, it FINDS the DAV files. SO they're there-- but not showing up anywhere unless scanned?

Has anyone had anything close to this happen to them? Or is there anyone using an SD card to auto-record calls in a VTO and had it work correctly?

@bkruyver See this thread to connect a mechanical, traditional, doorbell. It's not difficult but does take soldering skill.

While manufacturers do sometimes use differing terminology, I use a UDM as well, and also have a selection of custom firewall rules, so we should be speaking the same language !

I'd be keen to work out what you're doing to make this work, as it would be good to avoid using the Dahua cloud if possible

  • My VTO (eg 192.168.10.10) has no restrictions to outgoing internet access
  • I have no ports forwarded
  • If I try and add my VTO to DMSS via my external IP address, it fails, because my UDM blocks Dahua from accessing the internal address of my VTO (because external_IP:37777 is not forwarded to 192.168.10.10:37777)

From what you've described above
  • Your VTO has outgoing access to only 60 IP addresses (so actually more restrictive than my firewall rules)
  • You say you have no ports forwarded
If you stop there, I don't know how you can add your VTO to DMSS via IP address.
It would work if you used P2P (via some of those 60 allowed IP addresses)

Do you have any WAN IN rules ?

Do you have uPnP enabled ?
Hi, I like how you setup your network vlans. Is it via pfsense?
Would you mind sharing the NAT and rules if it is with pfsense?

much thanks.

Today i had my first bricked Dahua ever: a VTO2202F-P

It was supplied by the local distributor here with 2019-12-03 V1.000.00IP001.0.R firmware. I've first tried to upgrade it to last official Dahua website firmware, but it refuses to load, update fails on reboot progress at 50%.

Having explained this to the distributor tech guys, they sent me a different intermediate firmware that I must install before load the last official one. This firmware loaded very quick -very strange- and then, after the suggested factory reset, device is completely dead, having to return it for a replacement.

Sh*t happens...

My VTO2211W is highly sensitive , and triggers the tamper alarm notification often. I noticed even rain drops hitting the VTO triggers a tamper alarm. - I see them all in my DMSS app on android. IF the tamper alarms come on consecutively in a short time, the entire VTO reverts to an uninitialised state - is this a normal behaviour?
How do I disable the tamper alarms, or even better - make this VTO less sensitive to contact?

isnt the tamper spring loaded switch on the back of the unit. I guess u could just stick something in there, then throw some tape over it so the contact wont pop with light rain drops.

Hey mate,

Is it just me or does looking thru your NVR recording around the time someone pushed the doorbell (VTO) to see who it was just the dumbest thing ever.

DMSS app allows us to answer the VTO but does not record a motion clip of the event.
It logs the time but (like you) when I click on it within the VTO directly it comes up with 'No Record'
Why does DMSS not record a clip onto cloud like lets say a Ring doorbell would?

Anyone have a solution for this, its doing my head in that I have to use the NVR as a 24/7 recorder on 1 of its 8 channels and then sift thru footage to find who pressed the doorbell (VTO) if I miss a call.

Also one more problem I have is 'custom audio/video encryption', I made the silly mistake and turned it on ages ago.
Now when I turn it off the VTO still asks for login authentication to view it, even though the feature is turned off.
Its like the 'custom audio/video encryption' is stuck on.

So I have to turn 'custom audio/video encryption' back on to get functionality working and can view the VTO stream without login authentication.
However when someone pushes the Doorbell (VTO) if I wish to see the live video and not just answer with audio then I have to use login authentication (password) to see it, which then takes so much longer then it should.

With this problem I have tried everything from factory reset everything (multiple times), delete DMSS account (multiple times), create another DMSS account and still cant get the 'custom audio/video encryption' feature to disappear completely like it was when I first installed everything.

Please boys and girls if anyone has any info on this too, let this frustrated bugger know and save me from this misery. :)

I bought 2 kits from Amazon and I'm trying to set them up. I attached the 2 VTO and 1 VTH, they all came already initialized, the VTH admin password wasn't the default 888888 and the VTOs have non default IPs (192.168.120.something and 192.168.1.232). I think I have used units, reselled as new.
I'm looking for the reset procedure, but I can't find anything more than the 5 presses on the tamper button and a picture of the reset button. How do I reset the VTO to actual factory?

Sorry you are having these issues. A few suggestions:

The Dahua ConfigTool can help with some of the operations. Something of a Catch-22, I realize, since you need the
password for some operations. One last resort is to figure out which firmware is appropriate for your devices
and use the ConfigTool to flash that firmware.

It depends on the generation of the VTH model, but for many of them the default password is actually 123456.
Also, you are probably aware that tapping the Settings icon and pressing and holding the Settings icon for several seconds
provides two completely different sets of menus.

Apologies - probably not very helpful.

unsure if has been mentioned or not, updated firmware on DahuaWiki that works:
Dahua VTO2202F V4.511.0000000.0.R with a build date of 5/23/2022 (have to update firmware 3x's... one version, then next, then final) DahuaWiki
Dahua VTH2421F-P V4.700.0000000.0.R with a build date of 8/4/2023 DahuaWiki
Gone is the 1980's style GUI screen and replaced with this more pleasant to the eye softer GUI (better, IMO)

It's possible to see the VTO when enter the "Monitor"?
I can't understand why I have to chose one on one only camera if it is the situation.
