New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I have not read all threads here, but what wall power supply or transformer you guys use for this doorbell?
I see 24v 6w in the specs but could not find one on Amazon or maybe not searching right
Asking for a family member
Me i have the poe version and the family member wants the wifi version

The WiFi version comes with a power supply (wall wart)



If they have an existing Doorbell, the transformer, even if it is a builders grade, will work on this Doorbell since this Doorbell does not use your existing Chime. Normally a builder's grade transformer is 16V 10VA or even 24V 10VA, either one will work. I had my WiFi version connected to a 16V 30VA at our old house with zero problems...you can always go higher on the wattage (VA) load it does not hurt anything so a 24V 40VA will work...

Use a Volt Meter to test their voltage.

To Add: Amps times Volts equals Wattage
So the Wall Wart that comes with the Doorbell is a 24V 12VA transformer...

This will only work with the V1 doorbell. The v2 doorbell uses a 915Mhz signal for the chime.

Has anyone found a 3rd-party 915 MHz RF receiver that works with the Reolink WiFi doorbell? My experiment with the 1800Doorbells receiver was a failure.

If it comes with a power supply that's good as thats what was need it. The house is really old and no wires at all for the doorbell .

I was looking at both of these as well. The Loratap would probably be the best option if it works. I’m assuming you would need to power it with 120v and then have a separate supply for the doorbell chime.

A huge part of my motivation for trying out the alternative chime was because Reolink wasn’t selling extra chimes separately.

That problem appears to be fixed:

Most doorbells use 12-24VAC. I just tested out the Hikvision DS-HD2 doorbell today and used an old 16VAC power supply from an old alarm system. Needless to say I am also not happy with that either as there is NO webGUI and it makes a beep noise every time you walk by it which can NOT be disabled! At least Reolink's doorbell was a solid product, it's just their reddit group is ran by douchebags and their app is bloated with stupid crap. I think I am just going to look into using Blue Iris and just use my junk reolink cameras.

Question tho: Can BI auto focus cameras by sending ONVIF focus commands when they get blurry? The autofocus for the reolink PTZs is terrible. Whenever it rains they are always blurry. I have one camera that has to be set manually because it thinks this is actually acceptable.

BI can send focus in/out commands to my RLC-423, but the focus implementation is so bad, an the latency is so large, that it's effectively useless.

So I "focus" my camera by hitting the Zoom in/out button for a quick click. This triggers another autofocus cycle, and that occasionally works.

FYI on the DS-HD1 you could turn off the motion beep noise in the App. Is there not an option in the App on the DS-HD2?

I figured it out but that is one of the least of my concerns. As much as I despise Reolink, the Hikvision doorbell is complete junk. I ranted more about it in this post. It is something that you would have to have set up on blue iris. You literally have to reset the device if you want to switch from accessing it between the app and the IVMS client. You can't add this thing to the IVMS client through Hik Connect unless you want to press a button every 5 minutes to keep the stream going. Also the fisheye effect is total ass. You can't see anything unlike the Reolink doorbell camera which can literally be used as a discreet camera by itself. I think I'm just going to set up blue iris and ditch the Reolink junky app once and for all.

Edit: You have to set the camera up through the Hik Connect app first and then once its connected you can scan it using the iVMS client. The part that I was stuck on is that you have to sign in with the verification code. But you still can't change the password or atleast it wasn't working for me. I wouldn't use the Hik doorbell just because its wifi based and the FOV is whack. The Reolink FOV is perfect for a front house shot

After setup you may consider CPAI in BI, to detect persons. I have mind setup to send me alerts on my phone through Home Assistant App only when a person is detected. So far almost zero false alerts. Every once in awhile a bug will get too close and fool the AI, mainly at night.

Chimes arrived Monday. I plugged them both in, and pairing was quick and simple. Both are working.

Props to Reolink to allow the pairing procedure entirely from within the app, e.g. I didn't have to walk outside to press the buttons!

My Homeassistant (of all things) noted a new firmware out today (v3.0.0.3308_2408051175). Couldn't update from HA, or from the camera app (claimed there was no update), but was able to download from the Reolink Download Center. However, when trying to upload the firmware file from the web interface, the error "Failed to recognize the file format." is generated.

Is this a known issue to happen with the Reolink update experience?

Try rebooting the doorbell from the web UI or app, then upload the file. Worked for me yesterday.
