I have a highly unusual ability to put things back together and can't figure out why there are one or more screws left over when I think I'm done.
Years ago I had a 1980 Toyota Corolla. The heater core started leaking so i got one at the local parts store. If you know anything about cars, you know that they start with a heater core and then build the entire car around it. Which means that you have to almost totally disassemble the entire car to get it out. In my particular case, most of the dash had to come out and the steering column had to be dropped. I used a Chilton's manual for directions. It took me about 12 hours over the weekend to do the whole job. When finished I had about a dozen screws and a couple of clips left over. But everything worked. Drove the car to work the next day and the new core leaked. So, I took the next day off and did the whole process all over again. This time I must have done a better job putting it back together since I only had about 6-8 (additional) screws and no clips left over.
