I was speaking of it switching to IR too early, too sensitive. But yes the outdoors will be the real test, that won't happen for awhile(hoping for next week). Taking care of my 3 month old grandson for the near and probably distant future.

I notice a problem with this camera. When you zoom in or out, focus is gone while it moves, and then once zoom is stopped it slowly refocus. I think I have it set to "semi-auto". The old V1 10x doesn't do this. Is it something expected with V2 or is it V2 4x specific?

Also, Manual focus does not work, actually the cam stuck in Semi-Auto. Try setting to Manual and then zoom in/out you will see it focuses regardless.

I guess they started selling the camera before the firmware is ready. I hope there will be new firmware releases. My camera is running some build from December 2015 I think.

Mounted my 4x outside tonight. Here is a sample image. I have nothing mounted in the same area to compare it to but by far the worst I have experienced. These are all stock settings.

Yes, that is what I had with all the default settings. It got better after I turned on 2d and 3d noise reduction. Even then it is still not as good as my v1.

I pushed the 3D DNR to 100 and it did get significantly better BUT not enough IR power. I've also found that the focus is going wacky after certain adjustments. Enough for one night!

I brought a memory card for my camera and when I went to go unscrew to open the camera, one of the screw was stripped at the factory. :mad-new:

Lucky, I build and fly drones so I had specialized tools to be able to remove the screw without damaging it any further and I was able to get it out of that tight spot.

That's exactly how my V1 4x (1.3MP) works. Slow to zoom and focus too.

Yay! :triumphant:

The screw is M3 x .50 which Lowes happens to have them in stock. I brought a package and it screwed right in.

Look like I discovered another problem, it won't format the memory card or even recognized it already formatted ready to go. It will recognize memory card inserted and the correct size is displayed but it shows "unformatted".

When I start formatting it, it'll go to 23% then stops there.

Anyone are able to use memory card in 4x camera yet?

Removing the face plate makes a big difference. If you watch it in preset 95 you will see the illumination go from 0 with face plate to 18 without and the IR goes out. I need to find a round file and enlarge the hole in the face plate.

Would not be surprised if this was not the reason for the poor night vision. (Face plate)

I was thinking about enlarging the the hole for the sensor myself, just been too busy to get around to it.

Glad you went ahead and tested it without the face plate. The general word is the V2 10x does not have the same poor IR as the 4x, there were a few pics a page or two back, I don't have a 10x for a comparison. I'm sure the face plate has some effect on both units, but it looks nice with it :D

10x v2 is fine with the faceplate, identical in terms of IR coverage as 10 v1, there is something wrong with 4x

Is this camera FCC approved? I like to buy them from China but many of them are not FCC certified and need to check with their FCC certification.
