Die Young TikTok Craze

I'm sure this "punk" will get what he deserves in prison.

Yep, sometimes a more appropriate justice is served up despite the system's best efforts to not do so.... :headbang:

Why on earth has China's TikTok not yet been banned ?

imho, time for some lawyer to sue the idiots who are doing "pranks" at 3am for disturbing the peace, easy enough to find the evidence.

A few civil penalties would go a long way to curb the stupidity.

Might as well ban X, Facebook and IPCT while they're at it.
Yeah,as much as I despise TikTok, banning it would set a precedence that would have no end.

Holy Set Back Regulations Batman !! Not gonna fit the batmobile in this house
There are lots of narrow houses on parts the Oregon coast, some as narrow as 10 feet. It's just from cramming as many beachfront lots as possible. Don't need wide FOV cameras for them!

Lets throw in Cell carriers too

Nothing stopping anyone from posting same on most any platform.

Its not the platform thats at fault

Ding Dong Ditch has been around for decades, tick tock sure didn't start it.
Dumbassery is plentiful.

ah .. ok, time to review the nuance here ..

1) China did not, and does not allow ANY foreign controlled Cloud / Social Media service .. this is for numerous good reasons, as they want control of the information space

2) USA and others fail to apply reciprocal rules ( think "reciprocal tariffs" .. in quotes because the numbers shown were not "tariffs" per se .. )

3) China is completely exploiting both US based and their own based Cloud / Social Media services for informational warfare

So .. and this is a good question, How does democracies combat an opponent who is taking advantage of informational warfare against you ?

For TikTok, ownership change would make a difference.

Remember if you wanted to start a company in China, you would be forced to cede 51% ownership to someone in the CCP ( one of the top dog families ), as well as cede your IP.
( note, I actually have personal knowledge on this .. )

Naturally, there are numerous issues within each nation's controlling oligarchy ( we have all seen the censorship issues in the USA, UK, Australia .. all reportedly "democratic" based on a solid rule of law .. ) that they want 100% control of information.

We can see the issues in the USA in terms of bias and the bi-polarization of the people, partially due to corruption from the 2 party system, as well as those who control the narratives in media.
Part of the issues we do see are based on the influences of outside nation states like China and Russia in their battle to asset influence to get USA to allow them to increase their spheres of power ( Ukraine and others for Russia, and Taiwan Tibet and others for China )

When I last logged into TikTok all I saw was boobies and some stupid how-to videos.

They got me!

The BEST and successful controls of the people is when the people DO NOT notice they are controlled ..

Try posting a post there on one of these topics and see how long it lasts :

1) 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre
2) Annexation of Tibet by the People's Republic of China
3) Xinjiang internment camps
4) Wuhan Flu coverup and Lab origin
5) China's Occupation of Philippine Seas

Same with Facebook, X, and most any platform.

Have you been to Europe lately?

Hell our own government admits to censoring us and we’re worried about the Chinese censoring us?

Difference is the ownership and how the various Governments control the entity ..

Do try the test I noted ..

Larger companies in China there is a requirement that the CCP basically control both SOE and POE

"Over the past 15 years, regulatory changes that initially focused on state-owned
enterprises (SOEs) have also increasingly affected private-owned enterprises
(POEs). Key reforms emphasise mixed ownership and reinforcing Party leadership
in corporate governance, blurring the lines between state and private
ownership."

Well aware of Chinese control of businesses, IP and technology. I don’t need your test.

You seem to ignore that our Intel agencies do the same thing but are better liars
