looking for options for enabling remote access for CGNAT fiber connection

Many thanks for the suggestions and ideas. We will pursue these. I don't believe that the ISP has IPV6 available. We will work with these suggestions and hopefully have some discussions with the tech support team at the vendor. Many thanks!

looking for options for enabling remote access for CGNAT fiber connection

Thanks, I found this before posting my question here. It's provides great direction , and suggests that ZeroTier will resolve the issue when I migrate next week (thankfully). It doesn't seem to directly answer the question as to whether these solutions were specific to CGNAT based networks...

looking for options for enabling remote access for CGNAT fiber connection

Our area is moving to a fiber solution for internet. I was assisting my brother with his installation and we've run into a problem with remote access to cameras. The problem seems to be due to the ISP is using CGNAT where you don't have a routable IP address (even with a DDNS provider)...

    Howto reset OEM Dahua nvr

I don’t know whether this will help or not. I do know that Lorex provides a service at their tech support line where, if you forget, or purchase a used DVR, they will reset a default psw on the unit if you give them a serial #. I’m not sure if Dahua does this or not.

BI crashes - Advice Prior to Computer Rebuild

Rereading this thread, it certainly sounds like a BI problem. Do you have a restore point from 3 months ago - before the problem?

BI crashes - Advice Prior to Computer Rebuild

A couple of suggestions to consider: 1) memory problem? If you have 2 sticks, remove one at a time and see if it disappears 2) power supply? Check the Event Manager to see if anything pops out. 3) heat? Run a heat monitor like “Core Temp”. If there’s a problem, Reset the processor with...

Zero Tier remote access to Blue Iris

I do this successfully, so it must be something simple..... Have you checked that the ZeroTier client on the phone hasn't "disabled" itself when using cellular? I have seen instances where the setting doesn't stick.

    Bird Feeder Hide

I just re-read the thread, it might even be a camera problem. Maybe it's starting to fail. I'd swap out another camera as a first step to try to eliminate the camera as the problem. Maybe check the camera on a short cable and with the tester to see if you get different results. If the...

    Bird Feeder Hide

ya, doesn't sound like a cable length issue. I would think that distance should be easy.

could it be distance related? How long is the cable?

need help getting BI to "discover" DVR cameras

way to go! You're certainly fortunate to find a solution. I came to the conclusion that my Dvr was just too old. I ended up putting in my "old" box of parts. When the pain has worn off, I may just pull it out again and see if some new tricks might work. Thanks for the posting.

    Lorex N882A6

Before jumping into a new Lorex DVR, consider the BI route. I had a DVR and then loaded BI onto an old Windows XP computer (that was running other software too). I ran BI, but it maxed it out. I ultimately purchased a refurbed HP and installed BI on it. It nicely accepted the input from my...

What happened to Live Cams Pro on iOS?

I have used IP Cam Viewer pro and have been very pleased. I haven’t found a camera that it cannot deal with. Also, Robert’s support is great!

Well my 3 year old lorex is dying, any suggestions on firmware upgrade or new device?

I have found Lorex support on the phone to be quite good. Give them a call with your model and serial # they should be able to help.

Considering moving to PC blue iris, versus current lorex nvr. Questions, comments invited.

I also found that BI would drop cameras if the CPU was stressed. I could still see cameras via other means, but BI dropped them. When I upgraded my PC the problem went away. Check your CPU usage to make sure that it's not a potential problem.

    Another addiction

While I consider myself an infant with Blue Iris, I've been running Homeseer for about 20 years. In past year I converted one of my Homeseer systems from HS 1.7 to HS 4. It was a bit of a "jump" since I too had a lot of custom scripts I had written over the years. It took me a couple of...

Is it worth the trouble using this

I had a similar setup for my original BI installation. It consumed a lot of the cpu, but worked fine for a couple of years before I bought a refurbed HP unit as suggested in the "Cliff Notes". At that point I ran BI V4. IP cameras would not plug into the DVR, but would be input to the BI...

Is it worth the trouble using this

depending on your dvr, you could likely add 2 more cameras to it, and connect to the router. BI can probably access the cameras on the DVR. It's easy to spend a lot of money on cameras. There are very knowledgeable people on this site. Read the Cliff Notes in the wiki. If you just want...

Is it worth the trouble using this

you can only install on one computer at a time, but you can move from one to another quite easily. Blue Iris also allows you to install a demo version/trial without paying. You could give it a try. It sounds like you're in good shape. I suspect that you may be limited by the camera...

Is it worth the trouble using this

my suggestion would be to buy blue iris and install it on your i5 desktop so you can then tinker with it. Use the DVR that you've got with existing cameras. This will allow you to get your feet wet and determine what you want/need. I've seen a number of people buy equipment and cameras that...

Blue Iris failure in Posting... message is "FTP: 530 sorry, the maximum # of hosts (10) for this user are already connected

Thanks Mike, I've been trying to work through this for a few days now. I have Blue Iris running at 2 locations. One location (the remote one!) is working fine. The one at home is the one failing. The problem cause appears to be too many connections at one time. I have 15 cameras posting...
