My first non poe camera is HDW4436C. I connected a poe splitter at the camera end, plugged the other end of orange cat5E into powered poe switch (compliant at/af), see attached photos. Camera is not being powered up. Is cable connections correct?

@nayr, IMO the symptom I am experiencing described in this thread is the result of the NVR processor unable to handle "synchronous realtime playback" mode. If I play the individual channels (not in synchronous mode), no problem with the videos.

The turret cam lens will be pointing towards the ground. LED light will be hitting the back of the turret.

Are you also recording to NVR? Are you having the same missing gap symptoms on you NVR recordings?

I would encourage you not to jump to any conclusions until you know the facts. You are assuming OP is having gaps in his NVR recording. I'm sure you know the definition of assume. There are members in this community who only record to micro sd card not using any NVR or BI.

Are you implying gaps on SD card recordings are a common issues as to gaps with NVR recording by providing the above link? Did you read OP's first post? He wrote, "I am recording to the sd cards on these cameras continuously." He does not mention anything about gaps with NVR recordings.

@nayr is correct! At the remote end the HDE tester does have LED lights and those lights did not light in sequential order. Who in their right mind designed the HDE tester? If you have a 100 meter run you would have to run back and forth at least 200 meters or hire another person to be at...

For those interested, this is the Link Master which diagnosed the mixed wire and short correctly, spend the extra bucks for it. It will save you a lot of your valuable time...

Well the tester still did not see any problem at the other end, all LEDs blinked in normal sequential order.

The blue plenum cable is the shorted one, the Link Master tester does not have LED lights on the remote end.

@nayer, I put the pieces back together, it still showed continuity at other end even with the blue shorted cable. This is direct burial cat 5E cable at the other end, still showing continuity,

Thank you to all for your comments and suggestions. I just smashed my HDE tester into the ground...it's in several pieces. If any member has the HDE tester or same model sold under different names, I would highly recommend throw the tester in the garbage. There is nothing for me to say...just...

What makes it more weirder is the HDE tester is showing continuity by the green lights blinking in correct order with the 2 different cable. Later I will be picking up another tester an electrician uses, his tester should be better than my HDE. I have been reading many threads on cables and POE...

No splicing. They are 2 separate runs from POE switch to garage via underground conduit. These connector end are at the garage : These are the connectors at the POE Switch: Black cable is direct burial cat5e cable. Blue cable is Plenum cat5e.

No terminated patch cable are used. Cat5e cable from garage is plugged directly to POE powered port of the TL-SG1008P. I apologize if I did not answer your question.
