Blue Iris Release 5.6.0.4 Crashed My System

FWIW, I just rolled back from 5.6.0.7 to 5.5.9.6. When I upgraded to 5.6.0.7, clips from that point forward no longer appeared. Clips prior to the upgrade continued to show, and alerts appeared, however. I hadn't done a DB repair/regenerate yet, but was about to....right until I read this...

CPU choice for Blue Iris server (2000 MP/s)

FWIW, using sub-streams makes a significant difference in CPU usage, at least, on my system. 12 cameras, 24x7x365 recording (D2D), with motion detection on an older Intel i5-4950 @ 3.30GHz CPU. Since moving to BI v5, CPU usage had climbed, hovering in the ~70+% range. I enabled sub-streams...

Yep, that did it. Thanks, fenderman.

    BI motion highlighting

I have configured all but one of my 9 cameras to trigger based on motion, but specifically NOT to highlight the motion. However, in all recorded videos, BI draws a box around the item that causes the trigger, with purple shading. I don't want the highlighting, as it makes it nearly impossible...

Connecting Axis A8105-E Video Door Station to BI

If BI isn't providing some $$ to fenderman for his support time on here, they should be. Changing the make to "Axis", model to "M/P/Q series H264" did the trick - video and audio now appear in BI. Thanks for the quick help, fenderman.

Connecting Axis A8105-E Video Door Station to BI

Hardware accelerated decode is set for "NO" FWIW, the make is defined as "Generic/ONVIF", model is "RTSP H.264/H.265/MJPEG/MPEG4", like nearly all of my other cameras.

Connecting Axis A8105-E Video Door Station to BI

A few days ago, a colleague gave me a NIB Axis A8105-E to add to my existing BI installation. It's successfully on my network, and the Axis companion app works when the doorbell button is pressed - I get video and 2-way audio to the companion app on my iOS device. However, I'm unable to get my...

Your current preferred way to access BI on cell phone?

I wanted to qualify my initial post - I use Team Viewer, on my mobile phone, to access my BI server when I'm not at home/on my home network. When I am home, but not in front of the BI server, I use the BI app.

Blue iris and CPU consumption as it relates to memory usage

@cam26 - the behavior has changed. Currently running BI v4.8.5.0. Still have 8 cameras, although one is now a PTZ with audio (previous config was all fixed cams, no audio). CPU usage stays relatively consistent @ ~45%, MEM @ ~2GB. If I use the timeline playback to view ALL 8 cameras...

Your current preferred way to access BI on cell phone?

I've been using TeamViewer to access my BI server from my mobile phone. It's been working for over a year, flawlessly.

    BI won't move files

It took me a bit to dig through the BI Help section, as well as search the forum.....the most helpful thread I discovered, specifically regarding network drives, was this one. Thanks for the assistance.

    BI won't move files

Along similar lines....my BI setup was configured to move files to an external USB, which worked perfectly. Yesterday, I added a new NAS to our network, mapped a drive (S) created a "Storage" folder, and reconfigured BI to move clips there. However, it isn't moving any files. The log file...

Blue Iris behavior after recording HDD becomes full.

After SouthernYankee posted his info, I went back to the "clips" window, and realized I hadn't changed the drop down from "Alerts" to "All". It's now showing all the clips in the storage folder dating back to 08/30/2018. Thanks for the help. Sometimes I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box.....

Blue Iris behavior after recording HDD becomes full.

Thanks, fenderman. I have archiving set up, but I'm storage-space (and budget) constrained. The recording HDD is 4TB, the archive HDD is only 1TB - I'm recording 8 cameras 24x7, and I KNOW I don't have enough drive space. To help avoid this in the future, I've ordered an 8TB drive, plus an...

Blue Iris behavior after recording HDD becomes full.

I tried searching the forums for this, but got so many hits it was very difficult to sort thru them all. If someone has a link they can share that covers the issue I've written below, I'd be grateful. On occasion, the BI recording HDD will fill if I'm not paying attention - totally my own...

    Blue Iris UI3

Yep, dunce cap it is.....I never even tried the Jpeg Best Quality setting, only the 3 H.264 streaming options. Going to Jpeg Best Quality made all the difference. Thanks for the help.

    Blue Iris UI3

I've been using UI3 for a few weeks. The only comment I have is degraded video quality, when compared to the standard BI web interface. H.264 is selected. I looked around at the various settings, but couldn't find anything specific to address the issue. It's possible, however, that I need a...

Blue iris and CPU consumption as it relates to memory usage

The adapter in the BI machine shows as an Intel HD Graphics 4600. BI CPU load before playback, according to Task Manager, is ~30-35%. RAM is ~3GB. When doing the timeline playback, I do it at the console of BI machine, not via RDP or TeamViewer. In a test just now, all I did was...

Blue iris and CPU consumption as it relates to memory usage

Based on the info in that thread, it doesn't appear to match what I'm seeing. I can leave the BI service running for days, and have the BI viewer open on the machine, also for days, and not have CPU usage creep. It's only when I review recorded video of ALL the cameras, simultaneously via the...

Blue iris and CPU consumption as it relates to memory usage

Recently, when reviewing recorded video, CPU usage for BI climbs to ~90+%, and will stay there, even after I've stopped watching recorded video, and gone back to live viewing. To be more specific, I'm reviewing ALL 8 cameras, using the "timeline playback" feature, simultaneously. Config is...

How to handle DST changes on multiple cameras?

As an update - all of my cameras changed to the correct time early Sunday morning, automatically, using the the NetTime NTP server running on the BI server. None of them were configured internally for the DST change.

How to handle DST changes on multiple cameras?

Yes, that's correct - local NTP server on the BI server. I don't want any of the cameras having 'net access. As I recall, all the cameras changed to the correct time during the last DST change, but that was months ago, and I've slept a few times since then. ;) The next change is coming in a...

How to handle DST changes on multiple cameras?

FWIW, I have this application loaded on my BI server. All of the cameras are pointed to the static IP address of the BI server for it's time updates. It works very well. Well enough that I have it running at two different locations, for different installations. Time Sync is configured to...

    Dell C1100 for BI usage

Fenderman - I appreciate the time you spend helping folks out on this forum. I understand your perspective on reducing power consumption, and don't argue with it at all. They loathe buying new hardware when there are servers laying around, as "reduce/reuse" is the mantra. I've looked around...

    Dell C1100 for BI usage

As I mentioned previously, I'm aware it's not the best WRT power usage, and that a newer, more efficient machine will reduce power consumption. I'm not trying to be rude, but power usage wasn't my question - just need to make certain it can handle ~6-8 cameras. We've been testing it on a VM...

    Dell C1100 for BI usage

I've got a Dell C1100 1U server sitting idle (2x Intel Xeon Quad Core E5540 2.53GHz, 8MB cache, with 8GB RAM but can increase that as I've got a bunch of chips laying around), with 4 500GB SATA drives. I'm aware it's not the best with respect to power usage, but it's only going to run BI with...
