Windows 10 Blue Iris PC - Strange issue

Hi all, happy Friday! I have a strange issue with the PC I use exclusively for BI. It is not the most modern (Intel I7-6700, 16GB RAM, PCI-E Coral TPU), but copes with BI and 4 cameras fine. The issue is that, every few days, the PC just becomes inaccessible - won't wake up the attached...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

One thing I would like to do is use Blue Iris to control the schedule for day/night profile. I tried using the Dahua Sunrise/Sunset service, but it doesn’t work on this camera like my other cams (which are Dahua). Has anyone successfully configured the PTZ/Control feature in Blue Iris for this...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Regarding reading license plates, I find it ok even at night (albeit manually with some digital zoom). Here is an example from mine, snapped of a moving car at night, at least 30ft away… Video:

Ok, thanks all. Managed to get it acceptable by turning noise reduction off reducing gain to 35.

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Hi all, Got my IPC-Color4k-T set up and working well. Night images are amazing! Still working on getting the best image, however I do have a query about the audio. I can't seem to get it anything near right. Audio format is currently at AAC 16k sampling rate, although I've tried most formats...

Shutter speed and other settings for night colour image (IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED).

Hi all, I ordered a couple of cameras from Andy (great price and exceptionally fast shipping to UK, thanks @EMPIRETECANDY!!), one of which is a 3.6mm IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED. Now installed and just trying to get settings right for the best colour night vision... Our rear garden has some light from...

Which 1/1.2” sensor 4K camera for good low light ability?

Yup. Will give Andy a chance to come back with a price before I decide though

Which 1/1.2” sensor 4K camera for good low light ability?

Indeed, price varies a lot here too. But at $140 it’s surely tempting, no?

Which 1/1.2” sensor 4K camera for good low light ability?

Hi, thanks for replying. Yes, looked on that site but shipping is only to US/Canada it seems. Will fire Andy a message and see what he thinks. Thanks again

Which 1/1.2” sensor 4K camera for good low light ability?

Hi all, I would like to upgrade one of my 2MP cameras (IPC-HDW2231T) to an 8MP Turret, but would like to retain the excellent low-light capability, so understand I need a 1/1.2” sensor. Based on reading here, I’ve narrowed the search down to 2 cameras: EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T Annke NC800...

    Coronavirus delays?

ah cool. I placed an order 3 days ago, but Aliexpress didn't even send an order confirmation, which I thought was strange. Money has been debited though, so assuming all is good.

Which Dahua cam would you buy?

Hi, thanks for this. All prices quoted were from Andy's Aliexpress store. I have purchased a few cams from him now. Thanks again :)

Which Dahua cam would you buy?

I have a few of the cheaper Dahua IPC-T2431T-AS 4MP and think they perform fine. They are currently on offer with Andy for £65. I am looking for something with a little better low light performance, and was considering the IPC-T5442TM-AS 4MP @ £129, although I read the review on here that...

BI Motion Detection “missing” significant motion

I see, so that killed all alerts in the previous few seconds too? Is that because the break time is set to 10sec? Wonder if I could shorten that? Also need to play with the camera settings, want to try and avoid the cam switching to colour every time that light comes on.

BI Motion Detection “missing” significant motion

This is how it looked running the clip through the motion detector, with no settings changed though. Surely even if BI discarded the trigger as being a scene change, the previous triggers where the car first appears should’ve been kept? No? (sorry, filming on mobile phone was the only way I...

BI Motion Detection “missing” significant motion

ok, have turned off the "image size exceeds" option, and will see how that goes. Unfortunately its very foggy there tonight, so the cameras all look like they're in a blizzard at the minute! interesting though that I did run the clip through the motion detector and got lots of red squares...

BI Motion Detection “missing” significant motion

nope, limit decoding disabled. Also, smaller movements have triggered the system, such as a person walking to the door. But it missed the car in this instance?

BI Motion Detection “missing” significant motion

Hi all, Have recently set up a new BI computer and 4 Dahua cams (via Andy) for my parents. Doing most of the setup and fine tuning by teamviewer, as they’re in Ireland and I’m in England. All cams are set to record continuously, but also set to be triggered by motion. There have been a few...

    Jerky recorded footage

Actually, just checked and the drive is listed in device manager as a "WD20EURX". Looked back through emails and this is the drive I bought... Western Digital WD20EURX 2TB CCTV/Surveillance Internal Hard Drive So, although it's not a WD Purple, it is listed as a WD surveillance drive, so...

    Jerky recorded footage

hmmm, you mention “limit decoding unless required” - I don’t have that feature enabled, as I rely on BI’s motion detection, and I read that enabling this can mess it up - or should I have it enabled? No I think the other 2mp cams are ok. Will try reducing the hikvision’s resolution to test. Thanks

    Jerky recorded footage

thanks Looney. When you say not powerful enough, do you mean to play back the footage, or to record it? As it seems to record it ok, particularly as I’m using direct to disk. However it’s the play back that causes high cpu usage. Going to replace the i3 cpu with an the i5 I have sitting here, 2...

    Jerky recorded footage

What you say makes sense, however it doesn't explain why the footage plays fine when the same file is transferred to another PC. Also, I transferred the same file from the WD Blue drive to the SSD which windows 10 is installed on (on the BI machine) and it still plays jerky. I'm stumped. As...

    Jerky recorded footage

Interesting figures on the passmark video scores, thanks. I have an i5-2500 cpu sitting here which I have been meaning to put into the BI machine. I think it might be quad core, so may help? Alternatively, it’s new machine time, or maybe even, as suggested above, time to move to an NVR. the...

    Jerky recorded footage

you may well be right. However I suppose plenty of people use blue iris on a pc with no problems? The HDD currently is use is a 2TB WD Blue. I know the purple models are more suited to surveillance but I acquired the blue unit with the PC and so figured I’d use it for now. Are the purple units...

    Jerky recorded footage

Hi all, So I have been trying to analyse footage and see if I can pinpoint the issue. To answer the question you posed: Is the video jerky when viewing the live view directly from the camera using internet explorer. No Is the video jerky when viewing live view full screen in BI. Slightly, but...
