Don't mix and match Hik with other brands. I'd keep e-mailing hik until they finally give in and allow you to reset the password rather than buy another Hikvision which you could end up in the same boat with.

Are you using a Dahua NVR? KW12P - you're never going to get amazing nightvision from a higher MP model and you won't get 2-way audio from an outdoor model.

Sometimes you've got to try to do stuff in order to diagnose and fix things... you never know and it's not a huge effort to unplug some RJ45s from the back of an NVR.

That's normal. It's set to DHCP for wifi cameras. Try using Internet Explorer and Firefox to see if either makes a difference. I know there were some issues with SD-Card (F model) grey imports with hacked firmware.

You don't need any of this. You think you need it. If you can run a cable then I picked up 2x Dahua HFW2100P cameras in the UK delivered inc tax for $100 ($50 each). They are 1.3MP, the night vision is great, have PoE, IP66 and are as cheap as you can go without compromising reliability etc...
