5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

Klasipca, what is the safest way to pay for my purchases thru Aliexpress? Do you use CC or other? Going to order the camera you listed earlier.. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...08.0.78.CzJlQW
I personally use CC, although disclaimer I did not purchase from this particular store. I paid Longse directly using PayPal through Alibaba. In case you want to try direct route, I am currently working with Amanda from Longse to purchase another cam. Her email amanda@longse.com.

Today i received 3 models with the chip/sensor and i ordered them from alibaba at Eddy.
Went pretty fast, paid by paypal.
Only thing was that my address was messed up, the shipping company luckily called me what address would be the correct one because the one was none existing.
At least parts of it.
Not much time to test but the image i have seen outside was much better compared to the dahua and hikvision models in the dark.

Will post some pictures later on but will take a little while since i got to much work planned in.

wow, are all 3 ones the same? Looking forward to your feedback!

no, different models, smaller bullet cam model and 2 bigger models.
Picked them at sensor choice and looked a bit at the models but i did not expect some would be this big.
I like the bullet cam model the most since the size is not to much, this cam is that i have tested/used.
The short moment i tested them i could not get them to work in Blueiris yet.

They have shipped mine with postNL. Thought it was an odd choice for China to the UK.

CC is fine... They are rated #6 vs the the S&P500 :)

Just pulled the trigger. Dome is ordered.. Thx for the help.. Can anyone recommend a link to purchase a bullet with the same performance? Would like a 3.6mm lens and POE - Would like mic and motion if possible.. So many part numbers, I am confused.. Thx for everyone's input.. Can't wait to replace the ACTI pos!

Alibaba isn't the seller, basically it's ebay market for wholesale.

I see many of you are mentioning that you talk to some reps when making your purchases. Are you contacting them through Aliexpress or Alibaba like you would do in Ebay or have I missed something.
Also, does the site get a discount if mentioned and where are you given the choice how to pay, for example; Paypal or CC. I would like the safest and secure way of course and would hope that nothing happens.

UPDATE: I just noticed mentioning of the CC usage for purchasing.

Some cams have various configuration options. Keep in mind POE is optional and basically an external box attached to wire on most of their cams.

I am working with the contact on previous page to order another cam with microphone, it's not IMX178 though.

Alternatively, these cams with microphone available on Aliexpress, there is no mention in the listing about built-in microphone, but seller from this store as well as Longse rep said it's an option, just need to confirm with them when ordering. Also, you can configure them with 2.8mm lens:

Just got longse s500, ordered 2/2, arrived 3/4. Had to add poe for $6 after the order since I didn't realize it wasn't poe. Ordered:

Disappointed, the picture is not sharp at all, all of my other cameras look better. Up close it looks alright but farther away blurry. Night seems better than day. Did I get a defective one?

It's not full resolution but the picture doesn't look right because image should be sharp from this cam, looks like the same lens focus issue I had with a recent Dahua turret which I ended up returning. Unfortunately, this can happen. You will most likely need to dispute the purchase and if you end up keeping it you could try opening the cam and adjusting the focus

@hamsoplo - it looks to be a focus issue. I've found that with fixed focus cameras like the longse you have, the focal distance is slightly different for NV than daylight, I'm guessing due to the difference in the wavelength/spectrum. Making one sharp will compromise the other. There is where an auto focus lens like the mini PTZ has is advantageous because it's sharp for both. Re-focusing the unit should be easy since the longse IMX178 cams use a standard M12 lens, so you just screw/unscrew it until the image is sharp. Below is one of my cams which uses an M12 2.8mm lens. The locking screw effectively keeps the lens from loosening and losing focus.

I you don't want to be bothered with it and can't get a refund, shoot me a PM as I'm in the market for a 178 board for a project I'm doing.

With respect - in this specific case I'm not sure I agree.
Both night and bright images above to me show the same degree of in focus depth, and the same out of focus location and amount.
And the @klasipca sample images in the first posts and others show equally sharp in BW and Colour.
And if that really was the case all the other brand cameras would be plagued by the same problem - and they are generally not.

@alastairstevenson - the difference in focal length is small, but noticeable. Certainly not big enough of a deal to explain what is happening with @hamsoplo's rig, but I brought it up as an aside more than anything. I believe the technical term for what I'm trying to explain is chromatic aberration. I notice it with high zoom fixed focal length cameras I have.

It sounds like he's going to crack it open and tweak the lens. I hope he doesn't break it ... it will be interesting to hear what happens.
I'm very tempted to also jump on the Longse S500 bandwagon - they do look pretty good.
All of the brands on this forum give excellent image quality during daytime - but I think many of us would welcome improvements in low-light performance.

came in here to say this thread makes me chuckle every time I see it, is a MegaGixel anything like a Gigawatt? How many MegaGixels do we need before we see some serious shit? :P

@riceandbeans & @alastairstevenson, your both kinda right.. IR wavelength focuses at a different point, so lenses have to be IR corrected to bring the wavelength back to focus with visible light.. If you have a non-corrected lens you'll see what riceandbeans describes, but most cameras with IR should have IR corrected lenses and the focus should be identical day/night.

standard_lens.jpg

chromatic aberration is a problem with IR if you do not have any filters on the hardware, without IR cut in the daytime you'll see that.. less so with IR corrected lenses but it'll still be present.

Ive been speculating that those complaints about HuniSun 10x PTZ loosing focus between day and night is because they cheeped out with non IR corrected lenses because they had a motorized focus, but someone neglected to add software commands to hide the problem. (force refocus)

Thank you for the instructions. Ill give it a shot if the vendor leaves me high and dry. Wonder if it is reverse thread or an english translation typo.

@klasipca, thinking about purchasing a Longse LBL60S500 - can these IMX178 + Hi3516A units be ordered with different lens? I see the sheet states 5MP HD 3.6mm Board Lens... can that be changed to 12mm? I have a Hik DS-2CD2632 that needs replacing, and the location covers a long driveway (160Ft, hence the need for a 60M IR unit)
