I understand perfectly. You complained to the seller and alleged that the camera is faulty when you have not properly tested it. You keep claiming you have two defective cameras which is almost impossible. Yet you still have not tested them. You claim the camera is rebooting and you know this by using librenms but dont explain how librenms knows the camera is rebooting vs losing signal. When someone sells you a camera they dont automatically become your network technician. Folks have this same misconception with software vendors. He doesnt have to start trouble shooting your network because you are too damn lazy to do it your self. At this point is simply dont trust you.fenderman - you obviously have no idea of what happened. You are making stuff up on the fly making accusations and not even reading messages properly. However I will take some time to simplify things for you and potential new customers looking at buying stuff form Andy.
1. Cameras reboot randomly. Both cameras are still under warranty.
2. Messaged Andy via AliExpress system and described the situation
3. Andy replied back to state that I should be using a POE+ switch - I did let him know in the original message that I have 2 POE+ switched and cameras reboot regardless in which switches they are plugged in
4. I replied back offering more information about how many times per week the cameras reboot
5. Andy replies back stating that is OK for Cameras to reboot once a week (totally ignoring the multiple reboots I have per week for each camera from my previous message to him)
6. I reply back to Andy asking him to tell me how is going to handle this situation with the cameras under warranty as these reboots are unacceptable
I received nothing else. No steps to further troubleshoot. no additional questions etc. So of course I am not happy with the way Andy tried to deal with me and I believe many buyers will feel the same if they were is a similar situation.
fenderman - I am doing all the other troubleshooting as asked by fellow forum posters - never been asked by the camera seller to do anything except to accept the faults for cameras that are under warranty.
And you trying to turn this against me like is my fault ... well it just shows how much you understood of the situation so far (not much). Also as you can see form above I did ask him to honor the warranty but via AliExpress not through here so I don't think I am stupid as you mentioned. More like you assumed that I used this forums for that. You know what they say about ASSuming things
I did say before that it was/is raining here and that is why I did not get around to take the camera down and test it. Hopefully weekend will be clear and I will get to do that.
Anyway I will continue my test to eliminate the cables as an issue.
LibreNMS not sure exactly what you are asking here. It has graphs and issues alert emails too when devices go down. So visually I see these reboots via graphs and I get emails as well. Do you want to see some graphs?
I would suggest:
1. Use the camera's log to determine if the cam is rebooting, that is what it is there for.
2. I would suspect CCA cable or length could be issue. (you never mentioned how long your runs are)
3. ALWAYS have a reliable power supply to test camera as well and bypass POE method. Just because you have had cameras work on this before means nothing unless they were the same camera model.

Again the vendor is not responsible for your network simply because you are having an issue with their product.... It is obvious that you can't perform basic troubleshooting, and judging by your lack of even basic knowledge with respect to ethernet cable who knows what else you're doing wrong.... When you wired up your cable hopefully you use the 568 B standard.... Your automobile analogy is invalid... Better example is if you went ahead and bought a brake master cylinder and and then developed issues with your braking and holding the seller responsible for your entire braking system including the lines pads calipers and rotors..... If you want that level of responsibility you need to hire a professional to do the installation from A to Z.... You have yet to determine that the cameras are defective.... But yet you ramble on..Well the kind of help I am getting form this forum is the kind of help I expected form the vendor. Unfortunately he is lucking severely in this aspect.
If he doesn't have the knowledge himself he is the conduit between the buyer the the manufacturer. He should seek assistance from the manufacturer on behalf of his buyers rather than say is ok put up with it.
fenderman is the same as buying a car/fridge/etc - the car dealer is not the expert but they will help you and source info from manufacturer. Also you are not expected to "try" things to sort out the issues especially if under warranty. Neither you are expected that you are an expert to know all and fix the issue yourself.
But I am sure you know all this.
Hello,
50 meters of cable? I think this is very long if not too long for POE. With a 50 meter cable the resistance is already very high. The camera needs 22 W with infrared light. I use a 12 V 4 Amp power supply. First I had a combination cable (power Ethernet) which worked perfectly with a length of 10 meters. Then the camera was moved and a combination cable with 20 meters length of the same manufacturer was used. So it only worked without infrared light, the resistance was simply too high.
Greetings

You will not tell me what to do on my forum... If you don't like it you can leave or I can help you leave..fenderman you are wasting space on this thread with stupid arguments and nothing constructive. It will best if you refrain from posting anything related to my issue. I do not need your assistance or opinion at all.
There are other users of the forum who provided lots of suggestions for me try (which I will) thanks for all the suggestions so far guys.
Yes, 100 meters is the actual specification, with good cable you can go further... There are also devices that enable you to go much further than that if you need it..Hello.
ok thank you very much, I learned something new again. I didn't think that 100 meters could be bridged.
Greetings
Thanks for the suggestion.
I guess I will test with a real power supply and find out.
I am also considering getting one of this (if power suppply test works out OK):
BV-Tech Single Gigabit Port Power over Ethernet Plus PoE+ Injector – 30W – 802.3at – up to 100 meters (325 Feet)
Assume this is still the one to get? Power supply will have to leave in my roof space and it will die after a couple of summers hence the injector need.
Hi thanks for the suggestions.
Will try them too. I will actually get power supply too to test with.
The cables are 50m in lenght.
Btw what do you mean by CCA? I need to look into this too after I know what it means.
