Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Thanks for letting me know fenderman (about Andy's vacation).
I did all the troubleshooting I can think of. They still reboot.
The cables are some generic ones that I bought - stock standard CAT5E. I am sure they conform to 568B standards.
Had other cameras before I got these ones and used the same cables - no issues at all with the previous cameras.

Doesn't mean anything. Use a short new cable store bought to test as @fenderman suggested.

Hi Andy - sent you a message via AliExpress. I am having issues with both the cameras I got form you. Here is the message:...

Do you have a micro SD card plugged in the cameras?

I've read somewhere here that a plugged in microSD card can cause problems, i'm not sure what camera models were affected by this, google if you can.

Did the brand new cable help?
Just far fetched things to try: is your mains voltage within 10% of the norm? Don't you have devices with high interference by the cable?

Anyone else having ptz problems on the SD49225 with the latest BI update 4.8.2.0 ?

None of the ptz controls work except for the preset ones. Tried every ptz profile in the settings Amcrest/Dahua, Dahua/Qsee RTSP, Dahua New, Onvif (OXML).

I even tried re-configuring the camera, with find/inspect, resetting / reconfiguring the camera and also adding it as a new camera in BI.

Mine is working fine on 4.8.2.0 on this firmware version: (New Dahua)

Did you restart Windows after update, sometimes this helps.

Voltage is fine - I have another POE+ switch for my IPC-HDW5231R-Z. Their up time is 54d 23h 41m 17s on that switch. Switch has spare POE+ capacity so I added one of the SD49225T-HN - same thing - plenty reboots. The plug on the wall had other things plugged into it too - no issues with anything else thats plugged in.

In regards to interference - cable path is similar to all the other cameras I have so I dont think that is an issue. Also given I had other cameras before these ones working fine I am confident no issue with interference and cable itself (but I will still test a short cable).

To clarify a few things - cameras boot fine, no weird noises etc I can use it and use all of its functions without issues. The reboots are very random - sometimes cameras are up and running for 2/3 days at maximum before reboot, other times is 2/3 times in the space of 6 hours. There is no pattern to the reboots at all. Each of the cameras reboot at different times never in sync.

Latest Uptime report:
Camera1: 2d 1h 32m 39s
Camera2: 4h 58m 21s

Re cable - will only get to try this weekend (if is not raining) as cameras at mounted front of house so I will have to remove it to test with a shot cable.

Out of curiosity - does anyone have any old firmware for this camera? I might try them an see how it goes.

Andy made contact with me a couple of days ago so I provided more information. Waiting to see what he suggests - cameras still under warranty.

Thanks for you suggestions and help guys.

One of the cameras is running the latest firmware which doesnt show a lot of life statistics anymore.
The other is running 01.08.2018 firmware and the life stats include this:

Time In High Temp. 35 day(s) 22 hour(s) 21 minute(s)
Time In Low Temp. 0 day(s) 0 hour(s) 0 minute(s)

Do you guys have the High Temp like this too?
Wondering is something is causing this and the reboots? (temp gets high unit reboots, cools down, temp rises again, reboot, repeat)

Yes. I always reboot the whole system after updating BI :)

But i got the problem fixed, after a tip from another post on this forum by user 1.21 jiggawatts!

dahua 42212TNI ptz stopped working after 4.8.2.0 x64 update

He used a slightly different approach as what i did at first. My fault, was just adding a new camera in BI, without deleting the old one. So the problem was still there.

After i deleted the old camera (the one that got corrupted), and created a new one with fresh settings etc... It all worked again :iloveipct:

Just some feedback guys....
This is very interesting. So

Camera 1 - 3 reboots in 1 week
Camera 2 - 7 reboots in one week

And Andy replayed through AliExpress with:

"It is normal to drop the line once a week.,it does not matter"

And that is it. Nothing else about how to fix the issue. As far as I can tell both Cameras are faulty. They are still under the 1 year warranty.
Really didn't expect such an answer from Andy.

I have replied to him asking him in no ambiguous terms what he will do about the faulty cameras that are still under warranty.

They are not faulty...you need to take then them down and properly test them...if you don't like Andy's service you can purchase from a US dealer next time and I'm certain they will swap out your cams after you report the same defect in two cameras...

Yes that is happening this weekend - testing with a 3m cable.

"if you don't like Andy's service..."
Well this is not that I don't like Andy's service. What I don't like is to be told that I should accept faulty products that are still under warranty.
Also this is not about next time. This about this time and the cameras I bought that are still under warranty.

As we all know Andy has a good reputation here. It will not be a wise choice from him to change this by playing silly games like this.

Edit: Also I am not looking to swap out the cameras. I am looking for a fix - whatever this fix might be (swapping out components, trying new firmware, etc even swaping out the cameras it that needs to be done). I just want working cameras.

I dont believe that you took that camera down and tested with a 3m cable. Otherwise you would have pointed this out since it was suggested and you said you were going to do it. You only said that after I pointed it out. He will be just fine here despite your veiled threats...The probability that you got TWO faulty cameras is 1 in a million. Go play the lottery.
How are determining that the camera is actually rebooting?

Fenderman not sure if you are reading my posts before repling to me.

I had said in my reply to you and also in a few posts up (from 1/2 days ago) that test with a 3M cable will happen this weekend. I have never said that it will not happen or that it did happen. So not sure what you are trying to say...
Also just so you know Andy never suggested any troubleshooting steps except that it is OK for the cameras to reboot randomly like that. Apart from asking if my switch was POE+ he never had any other troubleshooting suggestions. So technically I should not even bother with this test, specially given that I had other cameras in the past using same POE+ switch, same cables and never had any issues with.

Also I mentioned in the original post how I am monitoring - LibreNMS. I have graphs/logs from the reboots since I started monitoring - end of August.

And I never knew that asking a seller to honor the warranty on the products they sale amounts to threats... hmmmm.

Also some ppl DO win the lottery even with the high probability involved.
Maybe you should have a look at this before implying that is impossible for 2 cameras to be faulty. Both cameras had the same message but after I upgraded on of them with the new firmware it doesn't show the message anymore as Dahua removed this kind of details from the new firmware.

Wait so you didnt even test it properly? Enough already. TAKE THE CAMERA DOWN AND TEST IT.
You have a special kind of nerve asking for a repair without even properly diagnosing the camera.
You did not ask him to honor the warranty - stop playing stupid. "It will not be a wise choice from him to change this by playing silly games like this." That is not asking him to honor the warranty.
This is 100 percent user error. Now go take the cameras down and test it properly, with a short cable and isolated from your network. Postage to china is expensive for two large ptz, so it would be a shame if you sent it back and nothing was wrong. You didnt win the lottery, same issue on two cams points to an error on your part.
How is libreNMS reporting the reboot?
