Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Hi, has anyone here been using 12v power supply instead of poe+? For whatever reason, my CS Power Supply 12V 3A could not power up this camera. It could only power up if connected to the back of my NVR. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am not sure about the specs of my power supply (and cannot check now as I am at work), but back when I ordered this camera, Andy sent me a power supply as well so I could test it without NVR, and that power supply worked without problems.

EDIT: I just checked and this power supply has 12V 3A output.

hello
I operate the camera with a Leicke 12V 4A without problems. The power supply stays cool.
When I used a too long (20m) combi cable (12V Cat5e) the motor of the camera started to rattle terribly when switching on the infrared light.

Thank you Gilean and Fred for your input. I just ordered the BV-Tech POE+ injector as recommended by ldasilva on page 1, hopefully it will turn out well.

that privacy mask drawing did NOT get fixed. It's still very buggy and if you place it in wrong place (which is easy, considering the square appears in different place where your mouse cursor is, AND is bigger as well),
Maybe now with this new update V2.623.0000000.2.R.180913?

"When drawing privacy mask areas in the digital zoom area, the actual block area is bigger than the drawing area related."

Did you upgrade and do a factory reset or just upgrade?
I know they very strongly encourage you to do the factory default/reset after upgrading firmware.

Last time I upgraded, I did the factory reset from camera software, but it didn't fix it. I am a bit hesistant to do these factory resets in case I somehow lose connection to my camera as a result (if it resets IP settings as well etc), but camera reboots itself after upgrading and after that I can see from Version Info that firmware has been updated. Not sure what factory reset would add to that? Or in case you are supposed to reset the camera by pressing that reset button inside camera? That would be very inpractical and on top of that, my camera is in such place that it's not going to move from there before I remove it for good.

About a year ago in this thread somebody posted a wiring diagram showing a PoE+ splitter and a microphone used with our favorite PTZ camera. Does anybody have that diagram? If so can you post it so I can grab it like I should have done back then?

Thanks in advance, - Dave

Anybody else upgrade to the 180913 firmware and have problems with the web interface becoming unresponsive after about 6-8 hours? I started noticing the problem on the previous version from August, but not as extensive, so I updated when I saw the 180913 available and it got way worse. I finally reverted back to the April 2018 version and it's been solid since then. I did do a full factory reset after installing 180913 including wiping the network settings, it made no difference. Not sure if it's something on my network that may be causing the problem or something built in to that firmware version. I don't have an NVR or anything else communicating with the camera, so that seems unlikely to me but you never know I guess. I don't have the camera on a separate VLAN yet.

PTZ update: I can now confirm using the new 4.7.6.17 of BI using the new "Dahua New" setting works great now under the latest firmware release.

Are you able to set PTZ presets from BI now? Ive never been able to set the preset from BI...

I am one happy user of the PTZ. I've bought 4 fixed starlight (two starlights, and two starviz's, to be more precise) turrets for spotting and one such PTZ for resolving faces and numberplates. It worked out well. I did not have any prior experience but reading this forum allowed me to make a reasonably good initial plan. There is not much I'd change now having a bit more experience.

I find 25x zoom to be plenty - my most distant preset requires only 14x zoom. I find that it is easier to read numberplates and faces from a distance when the subject is not moving fast across the view direction (only along it).

I am recommending others this setup as well: have several spotter cameras and one or two PTZs to get a good detailed picture with zoom. Additional benefit is that the passer-bys notice that the camera is following them, which should act as an additional deterrent.

Do you use the spotter cams to somehow tell the PTZ where to go and how far in to zoom?

Yes, that's the idea. I have around 15 zones where PTZ looks at when other cameras spot something moving there.
Excellent. Do you somehow allow the PTZ to then do auto tracking once it has been directed to one of these zones?

I agree. In my urban area 25X is plenty.

No. This camera does not support auto-tracking, AFAIK. Instead, as the subject switches from zone to zone the NVR redirects the PTZ, thus achieving tracking.

Hi Andy - sent you a message via AliExpress. I am having issues with both the cameras I got form you. Here is the message:

The 2 units I have bought from you they just keep rebooting at random times.
I have tried everything - reset to factory defaults, new firmware, reset to factory defaults again, not changing any settings etc.
Nothing seem to solve this issue - they just keep rebooting.
I have LibreNMS monitoring and sometimes I can see reboots within a few hours of each other. At time they work OK for a few days. Other time they reboot daily. Yet other times they reboot multiple times per day.
I am sure now that there must be some fault with them.

The POE switch I am using for these cameras is more than sufficient:

Edimax GS-1008P supplying up to 30W per port. Only these 2 cameras are plugged in to this switch.
I have also tried a dlink switch (DGS-1210-10P) to eliminate the switch being a problem but I had the exact same issues.

So I am looking forward to see how to sort out this issue.

I believe the cameras started to randomly reboot very early on after I got them from you (Blue Iris did show loss of signal for these cameras but I thought nothing of it till I actually was online and one camera just rebooted) but is only recently that I installed the monitoring software and actually have some evidence of how frequent these reboots are.

Hope to hear from you soon.

It is very unlikely that two cameras have this same problem...
start trouble shooting...try a store bought short cable. Did you use the 568B standard when wiring? What brand and exact model cable?
