Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

yes, just beware its not very reliable.. you shouldn't be using this on a primary security camera; only a secondary one trying to achieve a 2nd, perhaps better angle.

its nice when it does work but you cant be counting on it.. it alone is not worth paying for.

Good point. I was considering using a cam like this high up on my 2nd story to cover my larger 2 acre front yard. If there were 2 targets in different parts of the yard, it obviously would only focus on one using auto-track. Where I live is somewhat secluded so i'd like to, specifically, document any unknown vehicles that travel through the area and zoom in on the occupants. I think 25x zoom would be sufficient to document such things 200-250 feet away.

You know, I was thinking what would it take to shoe horn the auto tracking firmware into the lite camera, assuming the hardware is the same internally.

SmartPSS dvr on Windows, is that the same software that runs on a Dahua hardware DVR?
So at the moment i have a PC running 24/7 and thinking buying a Dahua DVR
But if the software is the same i can better use my PC as DVR
I would not use blue iris, thats not my taste

it'd tkae an extra $150 cash to buy the right one; they do not share the same hardware and 'shoehorning firmware' is going to give you a brick if you manage to trick it into taking it.

Thanks. I do have an older computer I no longer use. Perhaps i'll investigate upgrading the OS, ram, and HD and just using that! I have a few weeks before I need to start this project....

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:

Can you run multiple trip wires? For example, using auto-tracking.... one in my driveway, to capture coming/going vehicles, and one on my sidewalk, for foot traffic?

You need at least an Intel i5-6500 processor if you are doing more than one or two cams.

Please elaborate on the internal hardware differences.

because they are not the same? lets see what the specs reveal

Non Intelligent:
S/N Ratio More than 50dB
2nd Substream: 720p
Audo Formats: G.711a/G.711Mu/G.726/AAC
Preset Speed: Pan: 240° /s; Tilt: 200° /s

Intelligent:
S/N Ratio More than 55dB
2nd Substream: 1080p
Audio Formats: G.711a/G.711Mu/AAC/G.722 / G.726/G.729/MPEG2-L2
Preset Speed: Pan: 400° /s; Tilt: 300° /s

Clearly they are not the same hardware, the firmware file names Indicated the Intelligent has EOS hardware, and the Lite model has ADERIA hardware.. Video Analytics requires alot of processing, the reason the lite model is nice and affordable is because its cutting costs and using weaker hardware.. if somehow you managed to hack the firmware to enable those features it'd bog down the camera and perform like ass.. or the'd of already included it.

I tried that earlier in the week, there were 4 available on aliexpress but they wouldn't take my CC. I paid via Paypal with Andy. I would have thought those would have shipped first.

you'll get a tracking number soon then, I bought something last week from him and still to get a tracking number.. processing takes time for those without automated amazon warehouses.

when you get tracking it'll be on its way; unlike other vendors Ive dealt with he dont print out a shipping label then let it sit in a pile for a week

@nayr i have a large garden and i primarily want to put the cam to my backyard gate. With the higher end model, would i have to set it to pan (so it scans my garden) with auto tracking?
