It may be because I have it pointed towards the ground. I also have 5 other IP cameras back there. I need to move the camera to a different location to check out the IR range. I noticed that turning on BLC mode lightens the area considerably more.Is that with just the IR from the camera? Big hotspot from the IR?
This sounds very nice. I am asking CCTV CAMERA CHINA if they can send me the newer firmware. Both my turrets and the dome are on 2.400.0000.6.R, build : 2015-04-09 and have a max resolution of 2560 x 1440.Few days ago I have received these cameras. I have it with two diferent lenses 2.8mm and 3.6mm. Cameras with 2.8mm lens manufactured two months later and have newer firmware than cameras with 3.6mm lens (firmware 2.400.0000.10.R 2015-06-18 vs 2.400.0000.7.R 2015-04-22). And this new firmware has higher maximum resolution of 2688*1520 (vs 2560*1440 in older firmware). So its true 4Mp not 3.7Mp
If you want to get this higher resolution ask you sellers to send you newer firmware.
In this 10.R firmware you can select both 2560*1440 and 2688*1520 resolutions. And in 2688*1520 you'll have a wider angle of view so I think that it has true 4Mp sensorThis sounds very nice. Though I really wonder if maybe Dahua really has a higher resolution sensor in there or not. Maybe they just decided to upscale the video a little to compete with Hikvision's 4MP resolution? Chinese logic, right? I would like to have more faith in Dahua than that.
Looks like we will have to wait until it leaks somewhere.Julia li said:2015-09-01 10:39:47

Hi Larebear, any further experimenting with WDR and or moving the cameras to a different location to assess the PQ/VQ at night? It may be because I have it pointed towards the ground. I might move the camera to a new temporary location today away from the fence and tree's. It's been mostly cloudy here the last few days, so will try the WDR on a sunny day with some shadows. It doesn't look very good with it turned on when it's cloudy.Hi Larebear, any further experimenting with WDR and or moving the cameras to a different location to assess the PQ/VQ at night?
I moved the camera to a new temporary location. Here are a couple of snapshots, first one with WDR off and second with WDR on and set to the default 50. Finally got some sunshine today. Will post another capture later tonight. Camera has 2.8mm lens.Hi Larebear, any further experimenting with WDR and or moving the cameras to a different location to assess the PQ/VQ at night?
Have you tried adjusting the brightness and contrast to compensate for the wdr?Your results look very similar to mine. I've tried WDR at 25, 50, and 75, and haven't seen much difference. I'm not a big fan of the washed out colors, and brownish tint that WDR gives, but it really does a pretty good job of pulling detail out of the dark shadows.
I don't care much for the washed out colors either. Makes it look like the contrast is turned down too low. It might be OK in an area where there are shadows or shade most of the time, such as a front door or under a carport. There isn't that much shade around here, so I'll most likely leave it turned off.I'm not a big fan of the washed out colors, and brownish tint that WDR gives, but it really does a pretty good job of pulling detail out of the dark shadows.
