Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

There you have it. Night shot at nearly factory default settings. All I did was select the profile that auto selects between day and night. Never touched any other image settings.

Looks great! You seem to have gobs of white light available. Mind posting a sample clip of a person in motion in that same setting?

I have a weird issue, I am using SmartPSS on my mac and I can NOT control the PTZ from SmartPSS. I go into Live View, and open the PTZ menu and nothing happens.
If I go into the camera via the IP address directly in Safari I can move the camera around.

Any ideas?
Very weird, I installed a second one of these and I can control it via the SmartPSS app. One works, one doesn't.... very odd.

Yes, I have two 20w LED flood lights come on automatically after dusk. The four lights you see inside the gazebo are Hue color Lamps also set to turn on automatically.

On recordings, people/pets moving around at night with the flood lights on look just about the same as they do during day time. I'm intending to record people movement tonight, with the flood lights manually turned off.

Did you ever try newer firmware. And why am I seeing the serial numbers covered? Of the 2 newer firmware versions I have tried neither was as good. The latest firmware seems to have added something that makes it impossible to revert back. Wish I knew how to revert back.
I haven't tried updating the firmware. After years on IT, with all my firmware updatable devices, I've learned to manage my anxiety levels and waiting at least one fortnight before taking the plunge.

What is a fortnight? Is there a way to revert back? SSH instruction or TFTP? Would not take using the config tool. Latest firmware writing to the logs every 11 or 12 seconds. The firmware before that was writing to the FTP log every second. Really am hoping for either newer firmware or a way to revert back to the 20161220 firmware that you still have. Any ideas?

fortnight means, 14 nights.

Turning the flood lights off and leaving the 4 Hue Lamps on result in black and white picture with a fair amount of ghosting. Did not like the results. I'm in a hurry going out tonight, but will try again with the Hue Lights off as well when I return.

Turning all the lights off yields about the same ghosting on moving people as seen with Hue Lights on. Not happy with it now.

Can one of the experts suggest manual settings I should try. I know it all depends on distance of the still and moving objects in picture, but I would appreciate a no-no settings list for night footage without any additional light on, as my cams and network equipment is on UPS power, meaning I would like to be able to obtain usable footage even during mains blackouts.
Please take into consideration that I just got this camera a few days ago and haven't had time to play with manual settings, which means I'm mostly on factory default settings now.
Thanks in advance.

I read a thread on here somewhere that if your "noise reduction" is set too high it will cause a ghosting effect during movement. Maybe reduce it until you don't get any ghosting (if this is the problem).

Thanks for this info. Was it 2D or 3D noise reduction?

Ok, reduced 2D NR from 50 to 40. Left 3D NR on it's default of 50.
I intend to capture some movement on footage tonight, to see if ghosting is reduced somehow. Will post back with the outcome.

Installed this cam yesterday and I'm disappointed with the quality at full zoom. Cannot get a sharp image -- it's as if there's an alignment issue with the lenses. Zoomed out, the picture is fine.

Yeah, that's not good at all.
Are you not able to manually focus it via the webgui?
Tried that and the image still remains blurry. The only thing that made a "bit" of a difference was to decrease the camera's aperture right before screen goes dark. Pretty sure it's a lens misalignment issue.

Here's another pic and you can clearly see ghosting around the edges of the signs. I shot off an email to Andy -- hopefully he can help me out.

I have had mine installed for about two months. Recently, I've noticed it having issues auto focusing when I zoom into its max zoom. An attempt to manually focus it in is a hit and miss. If I zoom out a bit it will then be able to focus it at some point. I'm sure what mine is doing isn't any setting since it has always worked fine before, even with default settings right out of the box.

I am curious if anyone has had any luck figuring out the IVS auto tracking with the newer firmware versions. It seems Dahua took away the ability to have any control of it by removing the Calibrate tab in IVS. I have tested and tested, tweaked it left and right, and nothing seems to have any real effect. In some ways, it seems better to only enable IVS and not create any rules, set target filters, or any of the other adjustments they left. That seems to work just as well or better...to only enable it with no configuration. It gets obsessed with the tree trunk and moving leaves in my front yard. It will be panning across tracking something and sometimes will lose it by stopping to focus in on the tree trunk or leaves. I see no way of excluding them. Maybe I'm missing something?
