A poe splitter removes the power from the ethernet cable and has a data only rj-45 jack. If someone uses a splitter, to power a camera and microphone they're doing that by splicing the 12v lines together.

The camera this thread is about and most PTZs use too much power for 802.3af and require 802.3at. For this PTZ you best options are:
-power camera with 24vac, power mic with 24vac to 12vdc converter. I've explained this in detail a few times.
-power camera off of poe+ (802.3at), run a separate cable (cat5e or something else) to power the mic using a 12v supply or 802.3at
--running a seperate cable like this results in a larger ground loop and more audible noise
-Power the camera off poe+ and don't power the mic use it passive.

This camera and most PTZs want 24vac not 12vdc. You generally don't find PoE splitters that output 24vac. There aren't that many 802.3at splitters
This is a dumb question I'm sure, but can I power this camera off of the 24v adapter AND still have the POE ethernet cable plugged in that comes from my Dahua NVR5216-16P-4kS2 or is there a setting in the NVR to turn off the power from my cat5 cable and just use it for data transmission if I use the 24v adapter? I'm guessing I can do both but am concerned I may over-volt the camera if both are used at the same time. Thx

I don't have this exact model, but the SD59225U-HNI (I believe they have the same internals), will adjust accordingly. I have used the included 24V AC power brick to power, and hooked the cam directly in to the NVR (5208-8P & 5216-16P) without issue.

I'm sure someone else will chime in and confirm as well.

Grrrr... I just got my 2x 5231RZ, 1x4431RZ and NVR5216 are coming next week... What are you guys doing to me... Have not installed anything yet (waiting for NVR, so that I can find a right metal enclose to put it in to) and already want this PTZ =( The way my house is positioned, could probably just have 1 fixed, 1 PTZ and 1 LPR cam, if PTZ cannot get the plates at night... Maybe in the new year

@nayr ...

I plan on buying this camera and installing it outside on the soffit eave on my roof line. My question is:

I plan on putting this cam on the upward pitch of my roof, So the camera will be at an angle (with my roof line)

Is there a way to adjust the picture in the settings so im not looking at an image thats at like a 40º angle?

Also, with the camera being on a slight tilt is this going to make the PTZ controls strange

Not my house... but an example of where I want to put the camera. My house does not have a good spot that is flat and level in the soffit where I would want to put the camera.

Camera is designed to be installed plumb, your proposed method will skew the picture.

Hello all,

I am looking for a front door PTZ cam which is from the performance not far away from the "IPC-HDW5231R-Z".

Sorry for my bad english but this is the reason why I do not understand some of the latest post which are maybe the same ones ...

1) Is the performance of this PTZ cam compareable with the performance of the 5231R-Z ?
2) I did not found any Accessories on the product page. Is it only possible to mount this camera on a horizontal ceiling? Ist there no wall mount available ?

If this cam does not fit my requirements. Can you suggest me another model?

Thank you very much.

Ok so I did my own setup and installed the camera level horizontal even on a slanted roof! It's up there solid!
Wow, nice job installing this. How is the quality of the video at night?

hi everybody,

Before explain my problems, thanks a lot everybody for each comments ! With these, i've make my choice to buy my first PTZ Camera. My choice is the SD52C225-HNI for some reasons. However, i have a little problem with PTZ :
@nayr present in a latest post how this camera made to tracking with IVS fonctionnality. My model seems to be the same than his video but when i go on the admin web page, i don't have the menu to configure IVS. No IVS Menu in Event or other Menu.

When i use SmartPSS 2 to configure IVS, it's possible but tracking doesn't work.
I will have ivs normally via web page ! Firmware update ?

In version tab, i have this information :

Software Version2.422.0000.8.R.E4.2512.3S.NR, Build Date: 2017-03-15
WEB Version3.2.1.430772
ONVIF Version2.42(V2.2.1.414651)
National Standard Version No.
PTZ Version3.02.20.RHNP
scmVersion
Camera Version
S/N 3CPAN7Exxxx0002

Someone (particulary @nayr can help me please ? )

Thanks a lot !

Tom (with french English :) )
