I've never owned a dome camera, but I have both the Hik DS-2CD2332-I and the Dahua IPC-HDW4421C. The only reason I would by a dome over the turret is if I needed local storage, audio, or some other feature that the turret was lacking.
The biggest complaint I have about the Dahua turret right now is about the quality of its housing/mount.
With the 2332, once you mount it, adjust it, and lock it down, it is not going to move or be removed without
tools or an extraordinary amount of force. The Dahua mount is all plastic, and snaps together. Once it is mounted and adjusted I think it will stay in place, but the camera can easily be repositioned by hand, and it can physically be removed from its mount without tools.

The outer diameter of the Dahua base is 4.3", so I think it could also be mounted to one of these mounting blocks, but the screw holes for the Dahua mount are about 1.5" from center, so they would all fall inside the recessed section of the mounting block, whose recessed area is 4" in diameter.
