Lots of people have missed that setting, you are far from alone.
when i click on "audio detection" under the Alarm section of the Dahua NVR with the intention to set up audio exception and intensity change events, the NVR says "Failed to acquire config".
How are you connecting the camera?
I'm assuming ONVIF.
Two things would be needed to make this work -
The camera would have to support a 'Sudden change in audio intensity' Smart Event - which isn't listed as available in the camera web GUI Smart Events menu.
Also - it would have to offer that event over ONVIF, and the NVR would have to support that event type over ONVIF. Typically, ONVIF connections only gain access to a subset of available event types.
Presumably due to one of the various bugs in the 5.5.160 firmware ... a CGI query on the DS-2CD2087G2-LU does not respond with an authentication dialogue.
