Hitting cameras web pages with a laptop in an NVR with POE

Well, this newbie is stumped. Ive got a lorex NVR with a couple lorex 4k camera hooked to it. Im trying to add a Dahua HFW5231EP-Z12E. Of coarse the NVR doesnt recognize it and im getting the error code. Ive tried following the instructions to change the address of this cam by plugging my laptop into the NVR but thats where im stuck....lol. Im not a computer guy.

I watched the video posted on how to do this but im on windows 10 and cannot find the where to give my laptop the ip address of the NVR?? Help!

Is this trick still working? I've tried multiple times double check every steps but can't get to the camera web page. Here is my setting

Nvr gateway 10.1.1.1, subnet 255.255.255.0
Camera ip 10.1.1.65
Laptop set to 10.1.1.7, subnet 255.255.255.0, default gateway 10.1.1.1.

I can log in to nvr web page at 10.1.1.1 and then go to the camera web page via IE icon. But I can't get to camera web page on 10.1.1.65 on my laptop.

Does anyone have an idea why I can't access camera web pages this way? TIA

If "NVR gateway" is 10.1.1.1 and you can log into NVR's webGUI at that same IP....

1) What is your router's LAN IP?
2) Where are you plugging in the laptop? to router LAN or NVR POE port?

1. I haven't connect NVR to the network yet. I'm testing the cameras before install.

2. Here is my set up so far. Camera and laptop are connect to NVR POE.

Laptop can log in to NVR webGUI. I can also get to Camera web GUI when clicking blue IE icon.

I just can't get to camera web GUI when typing 10.1.1.65 from browser. Using both IE or Moon Pale.

Can you try "ping 10.1.1.65" from your laptop to pingtest the way to the IPC on your NVR?

Same unreachable when remove 10.1.1.1 and ping 10.1.1.65. No issue pinging 10.1.1.1.

That's weird. Just another test: what happens if you leave your PC in DHCP mode, connect it to the POE port of your NVR, and let it get an ip from the NVR. Does the ping to the other IPC work? If not, your NVR might block "intra 10.1.1.x" access, which might make sense if they don't want IPC's to talk to each other, but it doesn't make sense for the rest of the world.

Try setting your NVR to 192.168.1.108. It should automagically assign 10.1.1.X addresses to the cameras. Then plug in your laptop to a PoE port, make sure it gets a 10.1.1.x address and you should be able to reach the cameras.

Good suggestion, @bigredfish ....
@icecoffee , insure you change laptop from that static IP to DHCP first.

@catcamstar , @bigredfish , @TonyR , I just try both suggestion still destination host unreachable when ping the cam at 10.1.1.68. See pictures below.

Can you tell us if you cam is indeed plugged into POE port number 4? In which port is your pc plugged into?

What happens if you put your PC in DHCP mode whilst connected to the POE port?

Camera is connect to port 4, laptop connect to port 15.

I tried it both way. DHCP set on laptop then connect and connect then set DHCP. Same issue.

I even reset both NVR and camera to factory default, too. Still same problem.

Try a lower port (eg #5)? Is the DHCP server not giving out an IP address? What happens if you put 10.1.1.2 in your pc (just to avoid that the .128 is out of reach for the NVR by whatever stupid reason.
