I have the same issue as the OP

using ivms 4200 on main computer and on laptop

and then the ivms 4500 on the iPhone with the iPhone I can see the cameras out side my network

OP you need to set a different port for each camera then in order to see the cameras on the iPhone outside your home network you would use

you external IP aka 98.00.000.00 or what ever yours is. In the router you need to forward that port to each camera

Camera 1 98.78.128.01 port 8001
camera 2 98.78.128.o1 port 8002

etc etc in the iPhone app

MY ISSUE would be I can't view the cameras via 4200 on laptop with the external IP. I can only view it within the network

router is set up with a separate port for each camera

cam 1 is 8150
cam 2 is 8151
cam 3 is 8152
cam 4 is 8153

tried connecting phone app with external ip:port and got connection failed message

like you, works great within network

Test the port with canyouseeme.org...
if its not working, change the port back to 8000 and forward that port using the single port forwarding option..

No my iPhone app works outside the network fine the laptop running IVMS 4200 does and i am using the same external ip and ports that i would use on the iPhone app
So if I understand, you can see video on the phone, and ivms4200, but not via browser?

On the laptop I have isms 4200 and in the Ip i have the external instead of internal and it doesn't show the feed tho i see the alarm for motion.

Is the stream port 554? thats the only i can't forward on my router as its being used by something

Simply entering your external ip address is not a good test for remote access..test it from a remote connection or cell phone connected to cellular....for security i would only forward the media port anyway and just use the phone...When you use the browser i believe it uses the rtsp 554 port, but the cell phone app only uses the media port (8000)
