Looking for a new Secuiry setup.

Do a lot of you keep a monitor hooked up to that after installation or do just hook up thru the network on another computer.

if you want a live display you can hook a monitor up to it, but if you remote install it this can be difficult.. depends on needs, but having a dedicated camera display tends to yield good results if someone is watching em.

I'm more then likely just going to install and shove the camera pc away in a room and then watch the cameras in my main pc or phone

you can disable window updates once its stable and no port forwarding to the box no reason to update

perhaps, my previous install ran rock solid on 8.1 enterprise so when I set up my new box I just kept it the same since I knew the combo was perfect, it may very well run just fine on 10 though.

Do you guys know a good source, new cameras, fast shipping site i can order from.

I decided to go with

2x - Dahua Starlight Varifocal Bullet (IPC-HFW5231E-Z)
1x - Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)
1x - Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera SD59225U-HN (i hope this one is outdoor use in the photo it shows like it is exposed.)

Still a toss up on what im going to do about the NVR. But i am looking for a place to order to have the parts in by mid of next week.

As for watching the cams, you don't need a monitor, pretty much everything has some sort of web interface from the cheap nvr's to blue iris, I think, and I could be wrong that if you set the webcast settings to max on BI per camera and then use the mjpg page when watching it's basically full quality? I do most configuration changes through RDP, last time I had my BI box hooked to a big screen, right now its hooked to a monitor. But most of the time I monitor through the website, perhaps if I got another big TV I could run the cams on it and still be able to watch TV lol.

They look like good cameras. The brother is after something to keep an eye on his bitches (the dog kind) and this might just be the camera as he want's a microphone. Eventually I'll put in a BlueIris machine for him but for now would these work OK with tinyCam Pro and give him audio (actually can't see tinyCam for the iPhone so some other monitoring app)?

Yeah iDMSS looks good. He's not ready for a BI install yet and frankly I don't want to support (another) one either!

im planing on buying one of those very cameras; but they do have a cheaper model for $350 if that interests you...

if your buying dahua cameras and want a hardware NVR, then buy a Dahua NVR.. 5216-4KS2.. or consider BlueIris on a dedicated Win10 PC
That ptz is ok for outside? all the pictures i see seem not to have a lens over it almost looks exposed.

lol yes, Ive got one been outside for nearly 3 years now.. its got a lens cover, but its not a dome..

some of the CAD drawings do make it look like the sensor might be exposed, but none of the actual photographs.
