Looking for opinions on my options for LPR install locations.

Thanks for the help, I think I am getting things figured out now.

What do I need to adjust to get this image better?

W/B is off.
Focus is manual.
Illuminator is 100% near/far.

Most of us are running sharpness way down like 10 or under

Most of us are running shutter at 1/2000 or 1/1000. Given your subdivision speed, 1/1000 should be sufficient.

I have no idea where I got those numbers from, but this is the first attempt I am making with night time adjustments so I knew they were bound to be way off.

you may have captured a non reflective tempory tag,,,,in your first image?
dial back that 1/4000 shutter speed.

I took an Oxycodone for this EXTREMELY sore throat, ( like none I've ever had) i can barely eat chicken noodle soup.
I may start spouting off incoherently that I love you guys, so for that reason, I must not reply to any more posts for 4 hours.

Or a plate saying "UHAUL" or "FEDEX"

The images have completely taken over my Alerts folder and I am lucky to get 5 hours worth of alerts available for any other camera because of this.

What is the difference between Database Only and Hi-Res jpg File? Why are some images 100k and others 1500k?

I have also now set my Alerts folder on my SSD to move to a second folder on my HDDs when it's full.

Day images have been mostly good, but I am struggling with night. I just sat out in the road for a good while trying different settings and could not get the image any better.

can you catch them down the road a bit further? the angle decreases and helps the reflectivity bouce back at the lens a bit more...imho

dammit all, my Sister in law is steaming my LPR view with the dryer exhaust.

Not really. I am shooting the gap between mailboxes, a speed limit sign, and a tree.

I wonder if it is our Indiana plates and some of them work and some don't. I am starting to think the standard plates are more difficult to pick up than the organization plates, for whatever reason. I also need to keep an eye on the year. Maybe some of the newer plates work and the older plates are the issue.

This car just went by and it's damned near perfect, but it's out of state.

can you go any tighter? or will it miss some then?

Nothing wrong with that capture!

A lot can impact getting the plate - dust, age, covers, etc.

And then of course the dreaded 3M flat printed plates causing lots of issues.

That is full kill. I can't go any more than that.

I need to use something other than my plate then, because it's proving impossible to make adjustments off of.
