I've had a few days with the Huisun 2MP 10x PTZ bullets, after it took the US postal service a complete 7 day week to move the cameras north 400 miles for delivery. DHL brought it from China all the way to the USA and handed it off to the post office in half a weekend. That is public versus private sector efficiency for you.
The image quality is fine but the firmware is lacking in many ways.
First, I tried configuring it with Chrome, where the web interface appears to be working but it actually is not because the plugin is required to change any settings and it will just silently fail to change settings if you are using Chrome. No big deal, I switched to firefox.
Then I started analyzing their proprietary/undocumented HTTP API and the damned thing requires each request to include an API key of sorts that only their web plugin can generate. I haven't been able to figure out how the key is generated and haven't gotten a response from the email I sent to Huisun.
Oh, and they don't seem to have a URL where you can request a jpeg snapshot.
So today we brought one of the cams up to its final position on a mountain and installed it and turned on FTP snapshot uploads. Every single snapshot is corrupt and worthless. So I'm going to have to have to rig a PC up there to pull h264 and extract snapshots from that, and it will probably have to be
Blue Iris because at least Blue Iris has a working PTZ implementation for this camera.
I am very disappointed with Huisun right now.
