NVR Keeps Crashing DS-7608NI-E2

Haha, funny that.... I was just thinking of sending them a sarcastic email back, saying exactly that.

Im not entirely sure if this product is fit for purpose, and might see if I can return it... Though wouldn't know what to get in its place

Oh yes, an NVR with no HDD and no network connection, is indeed...useful
Btw, I too have a 2TB WD Purple, no rebooting issue with 3.3.9 (and lower), even with UPNP enabled, right now I've upgraded to 3.4.0 (once again) ... let's see how it behaves ...(with UPNP disabled)
Cheers,

Ive just had mine crash 3 times in 5 minutes trying to play back and export a recording of an incident today... Cant really afford to run it for a long period without recording...

So I've pulled every network cable including cameras, see how long it stays up for, then ill add the cameras back on, then the main network port.

On a side thought.... How many cameras are you recording simultaneously to that WD Purple.

I was doing 3x 3mp at 4096 bitrate and 2x 4mp at 6172 bitrate at the resolution setting which is the one above 1080P (2xxx by 1xxx resolution... the exact number elude me) all at 20 FPS.... Shouldn't be overloading the disk, the light barely flashes anyway.

I'm in testing environment (just for discover the unknown bugs),and currently I have only two 4 MP cameras, full frame (20 FPS), image quality 'Highest', bitrate variable, max 16384 Kbps, H264+ off (yes, with only two cams isn't a true stress test ...)
Same settings, no issues with 3.3.9 and lower...

Hi Jonatha

Hows 3.4.0 going?

Ive basically reset mine to factory defaults on 3.4.82 which has UPNP disabled, it still crashes... Im going to downgrade tonight, and was going to go with what versionyour up to that your finding stable.

the plot thickens....

Hi,

V3.4.80 has issue for 7608NI-I2/8P which will causereboot.

So we release the V3,4,82 to fix it, and from thesnapshot, your unit is V3.4.82 already. So the firmware should be ok.

Can you do the factory default again?

At least we now know there was a known issue, which obviously was not fixed

There was an emergent problem with 3.4.80 for the NI-Ix series NVRs (not the NI-Ex series, the title of this thread) where the memory allocation for the 7608NI-Ix caused out-of-memory errors and reboots. A thread or 2 on that topic.
The K51 3.4.82 was released to fix that.

After 10 hours or so after the upgrade to 3.4.0, and with UPNP enabled, I had an 'Illegal Shutdown', the NVR was simply recording, without doing anything other, so this morning I've disabled the UPNP, no issues so far (so far ....) right now I'm exporting a video, around 14 GB, average trasfer-rate ~ 250 Mbps, just for see what happen, but nothing, no rebooting ....let's see later.
But at least, with 3.4.0, seems that the 'Quotas' for cameras, are respected, with 3.3.6 or 3.3.7, even setting 650 GB for each camera, the HDD after some days was full, no space available ..... But to be honest, I prefer an HDD full (the overwrite does work) rather than lose some minutes of recording each day...
Cheers,
jonatha

Hmmm ... maybe I'm not lucky (but seems that I'm not alone), but after the upgrade to 3.4.82 (never used the 3.4.80, due to their advice), I've reset to default, formatted the HDD, upgraded again with the same fw, once again reset to default and formatted HDD ..... 6 or 7 'Illegal Shutdown' per day, even with UPND disabled .... same exact settings and cameras, but FWs 3.3.6-7-9, no more issues (even with UPNP enabled)
My is CCRR01, should be genuine English...
Cheers,
jonatha

I downgraded on 3.3.9 now, and I'm 6 hours no crashes (a record for me...) If it lasts the night Ill see what Hikvision have to say first thing tomorrow. If they won't acknowledge its their firmware and work to find a quick fix, ill have to send it back for a refund. Staying on the old firmwares not really going to work for me.

The last time I spoke to their technical manager he suggested replace the power supply, and were looking at an RMA. Don't think so somehow... :P

Hikvision, quickfix? You better start packing that unit up now.

Hikvision advised me to upgrade to 3.4.82 again...

So factory reset 3.3.9, updated, factory reset again.... 2 crashes in 1 hour. I have granted them remote access to my unit, and they have told me it must be a settings as there are no bugs...

They have turned NTP off and told me that should do it... Ill let you know the outcome.

Hikvision response...

I will check with engineers about this.
If v3.3.9 can stop reboot, please return it to v3.3.9 for now.
As next week is Chinese holiday.

Lets hope the company I bought it off will accept a return!

UPNP, NTP .... :)
Mine, seems odd, but with 3.4.0, no reboot yet, 26 hours running, always recording, exported some videos ... now is still early for talk, if in a couple of days it doesn't crash, I'll try to upgrade to the next, 3.4.6 (not sure , but maybe it requires all steps, as for the cameras, 'Don't skip intermediate updates' ?)
Cheers,
jonatha
