In this country so far it appears that the elderly are the ones who are suffering the most and dying from it. The younger people are not affected by it as bad. For some no worse than the common cold.

From my experience, wear a mask when you go to busy places(Maybe someguys think only sick people can wear), and wash you hands can be good enough for anti this virus, sure better not go to busy places. Most US people have cars, so if care about these, never have problems. Italy death rate is bit high for the old people, so the old guys have to be more careful.
China this week can clear the virus i think, but there has a lot of Chinese return from Europe, they bring the virus back again. So all people have to do testing before in, and gov arrange a place for 2 weeks isolation if from Italy, Iran, France.

After going to the market and watching a couple of people cough over the vegetables and handle each one, I agree that I would like to see people here wear masks.

Unfortunately there is a major shortage of masks in the USA.

Testing is rapidly improving as LabCorp, Quest, and others have entered the fray now that the govt brought them inside the tent instead of keeping them out.

With increased testing will come confirmation that the virus is everywhere and spreading fast, as modeled in January.

It's not time to panic; it's time to follow rationality and science, make well informed choices, and reach out to those who need help.

They are at a cold place, so that is why no big spreading, the virus love the temperature around 8C。+-5

HongKong also close the border, but right now the virus come from overseas, HK has 9 infection today, most of them are back from Europe.

That's my biggest beef with listening to the .gov experts. From the moment they realized they were caught flat-footed and didn't have enough supplies, they started a public campaign insisting that "masks do not work for the public". One after another, the experts, the talking heads, etc all chimed in saying they were ineffective and in some cases even increased risk of infection. Complete and utter lies.

The reality is, healthcare workers (HCWs) are exposed at a much higher frequency and concentration of viral load than the public. They NEED the masks to protect themselves. If HCWs get sick, there will be no one to help the public. Thus, rationing or prioritizing masks for HCWs MUST happen if they are to have enough to go around. And if that's what they said, I'd be in 100% support. Instead, they are lying, disarming the public, telling them mask don't work.

In the CDC's own HCW matrix of risk, the one thing that reduces risk to a "no quarantine/monitoring required level" above all other forms of PPE are then face masks. They are clearly stating they DO work. But that is not the coordinate story is that is being told to the public. That undermines trust, and impugnes motive. It may seem like semantics, but it's principle and it is vitally important.

Ultimately it comes down to this: There are entire departments of well paid people whose sole purpose it is to stay ahead of inventory and staffing needs. Whether administrators at hospitals, or bureaucrats at local, state, and federal levels, they all completely FAILED at simply MONITORING world events. I saw this coming since mid-January. I was able to build up my stock without any competition for materials. They completely failed at every possible level.
