Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

@fenderman... An ignore feature for this forum would be clutch. I was interested in this thread until a few posters started dominating the discussion with their agendas. Q, it almost sounds like you want COVID-19 so you can wear it like some sort of medal. I suppose it would fit your narrative so you could blame our President and Fox News for it.

Yeah. That’s hilarious.

This is 100 percent accurate. Trump was SPOT on, the bureaucrats at the CDC did nothing all these years. Then its somehow his problem. He cuts of travel from china immediately - they call him a xenophobe. The president cut the red tape and is getting things done. If you want higher taxes, open borders and socialism you will get your chance in November.

Original comment in a coronavirus thread:

"People are stocking up on toilet paper as if their plan is to have Uber Eats deliver Taco Bell during their expected quarantine. Lol. "

My reply:

Actually I think this is very much a part of the plan. And rightly so.

There's no reason Uber Eats, Door Dash, grocery delivery services, pizza deliveries, and other American staples of existence shouldn't go on and be used. At any one time most people will be healthy. Those delivery drivers gotta make a living too.

This isn't a zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, or red scare. We shouldn't gather in large groups, sure. So, instead of going to grocery stores at 5 pm rush time, it makes sense to go there at 6 am when it isn't crowded, or have the grocery store pick and deliver the groceries. This reduces people in the store and thus helps contain the spread of the virus. Similarly, going to a restaurant exposes you to them and them to you. Using a restaurant food delivery service dramatically reduces the number of people who are exposed to each other.

And imagine that you are in quarantine, or worse, isolation. Having food available at the tap of an app, where it comes to your home, is left on the doorstep, and you don't even have to interact with the delivery driver at all --except for leaving him/her that tip in the app-- is probably the best way to handle this. People without access to this might feel they need to break quarantine, exposing others to infection.

My personal situation is that I'm now working from home indefinitely, and my kids are on eLearning for a month at least. I plan to battle the cabin fever with midday walks and off-hours shopping. But I'm not stopping my life or cutting out others that need my money. We have a maid service every two weeks; they come on Wednesday and as long as they aren't coughing or sneezing on the walk up the driveway I'll let them in. I've got a contractor coming for a job midweek; not cancelling. The one thing that is on the bubble is that there is an arts performance tomorrow that has not been cancelled, that would fall usually into the >250 category, that we are still planning to go to with some reservations. Those tickets were a couple hundred bucks.

Anyway, I'm still ordering Pizzas, and may widen to Door Dash or whatever, as this thing moves through the country.

Hi Frankenscript,

Indeed, I expect to see Amazon, Uber Eats, Door Dash, and the other delivery services do very well during this time. ( Uber and lyft "taxi" however I do expect to have issues .. )

Looking at the Chinese experience, and with some planning these can be a drop and go delivery service.

Add thermometers to the list of articles which are difficult to find locally in stores in my area: everyone seems to be sold out.

Dealing with the thermometer shortage on Amazon a week ago when I had a likely GI virus, the good ear ones and even oral ones were sold out or super price inflated. I wound up shopping the maternity section for a basal temp thermometer and got a good one for $12. Nice and purple and totally washable. Very good oral thermometer. The only problem is it says I'm ovulating.

I don't feel the urge for takeout delivery...it's a Corona virus distribution system. A lot of folks hardly have symptoms and some of them will be preparing your food. Don't even get me started on the gross things that happen in restaurant kitchens...LOL.

Brass or steel case? Do you reload?

I was speaking with a NYC lawyer about my guns. She said "Guns scare me, that why I don't have any guns!" I told her "People scare me and that's why I have guns." And nothing scares me more than people who are scared. I'm ready.

May as well buy cheap steel cased rounds if not reloading plus zombies don't seem to mind. ;)

True, have plenty of that, just wanted some of the good stuff. Great hog round I'm told
