Replacing Hikvison DS-7608NI-E2 with different unit - Suggestions?

I have a DS-7608NI-E2 2TB installed at one of my client's locations. Long story short, my client is not happy with this unit and wants me to replace it with something else. He uses live view a lot, and it tends to freeze a lot when going from multi camera view, to single view. You can see my lengthy posts about the issue here if you want: Looking for a Nvr

I have made a list of similar NVRs to replace it with. I haven't checked for pricing with my distributor yet, but I assume these are all within the same price range of between 500 and 1000 USD. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience with any of these:

Everfocus ENVR8304E - Possibly Underpowered
FLIR DNR408P2 - Hikvision cameras possibly not supported
Hikvision DS7608NI - This seems to be a higher end version of the unit, but still might have picture freezing issues
Interlogix TVN-2108S-2T
Speco N8NSP2TB
Northern NVR8POE2T - Looks like it's basically the same unit as Hikvision's

Thanks everyone!

Since you are only using 7 cameras I would suggest exploring a pc based vms solution...Milestone is free for up to 8 cams...blue iris is $60 with 64 camera limit though you will hit hardware limitations long before 64 high res cameras.

Yes I haven't ruled out the possibility of getting an 8 port Gig POE switch and using Blue Iris. I should have mentioned this, thanks.

I will suggest this, but I'm not sure how open to the idea my client is going to be about dedicating a PC to handle this and having it running 24/7.

A dedicated pc for 8 cameras at 2-3mp will cost you 150 (used) to 300 (refurbished i5-6500 that is likely a month old)....same as an nvr..
It will draw about 30-40w under load...No big deal...

OK, but, computer builds aside, I would like suggestions on standalone NVR's for a range of options. Thanks guys.

I currently have only three connected cams so I replaced my troublesome DS-7604NI-E1 with an English version DS-7608NI-I2/8P sourced from Aliexpress and couldn't be happier, though you'll want the 16 POE port version that I should have bought. I had the freezing problem your client is having, along with other issues, with my 7604NI-E1. The DS-7608NI-I2/8P initially had some problems that V3.4.80 build 160718 and subsequent versions completely fixed on my unit.

I belive Interlogix's Truvision is also made by Hikvision...at least their cameras looks like it with slight physical differences..

Pretty depressing how many brands are just Hik/Dahua in disguise.

TruVision | Video Solutions | Interlogix Global Security Products

Maybe get a Hik machine that is designed for 16 ch but only use it for 8 ch so you will have plenty of headroom and resources.

I just upgraded from a Hikvision 7716-SP16 to a 9632. The 7716 worked great with 16 cameras (mostly 4 and some 3 MP). I was going to list it on Ebay- let me know if you are interested.

How do you like the 9632 compared to the 7716? Is there a noticible difference in performance?
