If you can do it, additional external sounds like the way to go from other threads here. May solve a lot of false trigger and poor visual issues.

I'm pretty sure the INJECTORS have the female power input jack (green arrow, for the gizmo's power adapter to plug into), whereas the SPLITTERS have the male power output jack (red arrow, for plugging directly into the gizmo needing power <or to an extension cord going to the gizmo>). No?

I know. I used to have an auxiliary IR illuminator mounted next to my previous camera but that thing was uselesss (it illuminated only a tiny spot).
The area is not big; it's only about 5 meters wide and 10 meters deep, with the camera mounted on the short side.
It's also hard to mount stuff on the brick wall and it's makes a huge clutter with the camera, illuminator, cables etc.
I'm thinking about some basic home automation with a Raspberry Pi and a Zigbee/Z-wave USB-stick and use a PIR to record.
But it's not a huge problem, only a couple of triggers each night and only during the summer. I'll see how it works out...
I'm planning on getting 6-7 of these cameras for around my house. I'll be running them to a POE switch...probably one of the BV ones on amazon/etc.

I'm currently running firmware 2.460.0000.14.R, Build Date: 2017-07-20 on my camera. (default firmware when Andy shipped it to me).
Is it advisable to upgrade the firmware or should I keep it like this?
Any interesting new thing in newer firmware?

Its at your discretion if you want to upgrade the firmware or not. For some, it may improve their experience, for others it may not mean much aka "placebo-effect"
Upgrading the firmware is like upgrading the BIOS in your computer. Any interruption during the upgrade process may potentially brick the camera's interface
Generally, the firmware may contain a few tweaks here and there as per image quality. Most importantly, security updates are always the norm in these devices as you'd probably have already come across the situation which unfolded on Hikvision and Dahua devices last year.
Fortunately, much of that has been patched, however, when there's a will, there's a way when it comes to potential firmware flaws, etc
It's certainly nice to have an official firmware handy, knowing that it "should" be mostly free of bugs, etc

As silly as it may sound, has anyone attempted to color/paint black frame around the camera? Mine will be mounted on the interior of the window and black frame around the camera will probably stick out too much.
I hope you don't mean that you intend to install behind a window, the results will be disappointing.
