I'm pretty sure the INJECTORS have the female power input jack (green arrow, for the gizmo's power adapter to plug into), whereas the SPLITTERS have the male power output jack (red arrow, for plugging directly into the gizmo needing power <or to an extension cord going to the gizmo>). No?That is a POE Injector, not a splitter.
Good question lol i thought they were both injectorsI'm pretty sure the INJECTORS have the female power input jack (green arrow, for the gizmo's power adapter to plug into), whereas the SPLITTERS have the male power output jack (red arrow, for plugging directly into the gizmo needing power <or to an extension cord going to the gizmo>). Any recommendations for a good IR cannon? I know that the other popular guy that reviews these cams, has a good IR cannon mounted on just junction box, but never found what kind it was.
Thank you for this. Outstanding! There is a lot of good info on IR lights here, but now I have some more to add: IPCamTalk Cliff Notes 2018-04.docx

I know. I used to have an auxiliary IR illuminator mounted next to my previous camera but that thing was uselesss (it illuminated only a tiny spot).Install an auxiliary IR illuminator and shut of the onboard IR in the camera. No more spider web problems, reduces false triggers from insects flying by and stops false triggers from rain and snow. Best if mounted in front of and slightly above the camera if possible.
PoE(802.3af)(Class 0), can use dahua PFS3110-8P-96 can work well for these cams.I'm planning on getting 6-7 of these cameras for around my house. I'll be running them to a POE switch...probably one of the BV ones on amazon/etc.
Whats the power needed to operate the ZE? How many watts?

Spec sheet shows <8.5W. I've never seen mine get that high (I think , but I guess if you plan for that, you're covered...
Check out this one. I am debating about ordering one for a friend of mine who is looking for one as well. I have a ubiquiti but those are higher in price.Hmm, that appears to be 10/100 on the POE ports? Is that right? I'd like a 10/100/1000 switch.

I'm looking for one that's really low power, no fan, and unmanaged. I'm thinking this one maybe:

I'm currently running firmware 2.460.0000.14.R, Build Date: 2017-07-20 on my camera. (default firmware when Andy shipped it to me).
Is it advisable to upgrade the firmware or should I keep it like this?
Any interesting new thing in newer firmware?
(Please Dahua, implement automatic day/night switching )
As silly as it may sound, has anyone attempted to color/paint black frame around the camera? Mine will be mounted on the interior of the window and black frame around the camera will probably stick out too much.
