SmartPSS on macOS Catalina

The after installing the program the camera images are fine in the live view in a 2x2 split. But if you click on one of the cameras the image gets cropped. All cameras get cropped. This is only on Smart PSS. The NVR works just fine...

I've just installed it too and the images don't hold for long on an external screen - they focus in on the bottom left hand corner... When I close it the program crashes..

Well, Lorex too. They dropped the entire project into Dahua's lap and I don't see them helping in any way. Lorex still sells devices that can use this software yet they appear to be doing nothing to support these devices on Mac's.
 
No real stable release as of now.. wouldn't count on it for a bit either with everything going on in China(where all the dev work is done)

Yep, that's the latest software we installed back in December.

Works great for me, except the crash when closing it, but otherwise it works fine.
 
I try the last release on my MacBook Pro i7 quad core with gpu AMD 4gb ram ad it's very slow...I hope for new version in 2020!

i have news for Mac osx Catalina's users. I send email to Dahua support and they replyed. they told me that it was the first time they receive negative feedback for smart pss on osx Catalina. they asked me a screen recording of app crashes. I send the video and they replyed that the R&D section will analyze video.
if you have problem please send email to Dahua support.

I thought they had someone here in the forum monitoring comments. I guess not!
 
For me, other than the crash when closing, the App works great. I use SmartPSS to check the NVR IVS recordings once per day.

Well, if you own a Lorex box, Dahua wants nothing more to do with you, even though Lorex has been recommending Dahua's SmartPSS software. In fact, Lorex is apparently trying to build their own app off of Dahua's software. This is the reply I received from Dahua:

So, just for curiosity, I checked to see if Lorex had any new software posted. They do, but it's basically a stripped down version of SmartPSS that, quite honestly, doesn't work any better than Dahua's version. In fact, you might say that it's actually worse. This version is dated January 15, 2020. Here's the link if you are interested:

Since Dahua want's nothing more to do with us poor Lorex customers, I guess it's time to contact their customer support to see what's going on. To be honest, I doubt I'll ever purchase another Lorex or Dahua product again. It was no secret that Apple was planning a switch to 64-bit-only applications so they have no excuse for waiting as long as they have to update their software. That's just terrible. And they continue to sell products that rely on this software to work.

Today I receive reply from Dahua support.
they send me the link of the new BETA version. it's the same posted by red V2.003.0000000.0.T.20200320. and they tell me that they will improve this version.
I try the app and it more usable. now I can use playback and synchronization between cams, however the app is still buggy. I think that Dahua Is going to realize new version. The app is available here Index of /images/Files/Software/SmartPSS

For what it's worth, I've been communicating with Lorex Technologies' tech support. Apparently they've gone back to trying to write their own app which is based on the Dahua app. They don't seem to think there's anything wrong with it so I offered to help beta test new releases. I sent them screen grab movies of the problems I'm seeing with "Live View" and "Recordings". I'm not holding my breath, but we'll see what happens.
