They just have that selection for the type of lens you would like to purchase..

View attachment 9671
I have two of the 2.8 which I find have great wide view and I use them where I want to see the whole scene and in areas that are under 8 feet off ground on my entrance and under eaves of a bungalow. They are perfect and I enjoy seeing as much of an area as possible. I just bought two 4mm of which one will be about 16 feet off ground on the garage chimney facing rear garage parking. I did have a 4mm foscam on there now which at that hieght gave me about the same scene as a 2.8 down low so I hope for same effect. If you want wide view and on first floor you cant beat the 2.8 overall. Some really like to try and get zoomed in on a face or whatever but, I more like seeing the bigger picture and not missing anything more about knowing what is going on as opposed to providing CSI info to police. I will update after weekend install of the newest 3 cameras and provide some review of the two lens. If you really want a longer lens say the 6mm or 8mm I would just contact he seller here as I am sure they have them and not just show them on the link I provided. So yes the TVl you use as per the chart above when you make your purchase it confused me a bit as well TVL but, no issue upon arrival of the cameras I have received.

A proper surveillance system will have both - detail gathering for high traffic or entrance/exit locations and wide-angle for seeing what a subject is doing on premises. This was true with old analog systems, and while we have higher resolution today, it is still needed with multiple-megapixel cameras. Four times the resolution only provides detail near half the focal length of a lower resolution camera.

Detail of a 4mm 1/3" sensor 1920x1080 camera is similar to that of an 8mm 1/3" sensor 960x540 camera, but if the sensor technology is similar, the 960x540 camera will potentially have a wider dynamic range and perform better in low light. Of course the optics matter more and as you go up in resolution, you get a lower percentage of actual resolved lines compared to the total lines. a 480TVL camera may actually resolve 480TVL, but a 2MP 1080p camera may only resolve 1 megapixel (around 720p) of actual detail. My 36MP DSLR resolves about 20MP with my best lens. It's low, but the photos have a lot more detail than the 8-10MP of detail from my previous 20MP crop cameras.

Anyway, we still need both wide and narrow view cameras! I'd suggest 4-12mm pointing at driveways, sidewalks, streets, and gates. 2.8mm or 4mm for general premises surveillance.

I just installed one of the new cameras the 4mm lens version and it is all good. Only thing I wish was different is its a V5.3.3 Build 150803 and I wish it was the newer one V5.3.6 as the web browser controls are way nicer on the new version. I may ask the supplier for a 5.3.6 update if they can send me a copy. Otherwise camera was instant plug and play I just opened with SADP and changed the IP to my LAN. I still don't see any 50hz to 60hz place to change but, so far on both of these no issues. I am heading out to set up the 2.8mm lens one thats about 8' high off driveway facing a side entrance. If anyone out there has a link to the new build for a chinese cameras please post it , thanks.

This camera again is :

V5.3.3 Build 150803
V7.1 Build 150801

Is it not under configuration -> Basic configuration -> Image -> Video Adjustment -> Video Standard?
No video standard on these cameras with those instructions

You should be golden, I would mention depending on your install sight naturally I really like the 2.8mm lens as its a real nice wide view. My 4mm is about 12-14 feet off ground and is appropriate for its field of view.

FIRMWARE V5.3.6 BUILD 151221
ENCODING V7.2 BUILD 151029

UPDATE:

Just installed the 2.8mm and funny but is has the new build V5.3.6 so the browser software is very nice. Again the install was very basic just logged in SADP and changed my IP and LAN and boom running perfectly. The box said Build 5.3.3 but, I guess the 2.8mm must be selling faster or something or just a China thing again.
On these cameras they will say HIKVISION on the install ring and the base is aluminum but, you will have some chinese letters under that. Not sure what is says but, why would I care maybe I will try to decifer it some day when I am bored.

So at the end of the day these are great cameras and the price is equally as great. I ordered three at a time and I received in 5 days via DHL. I did get the $26 ding for DHL (Canada here) to clear and our wonderful gov tax but, hey 5 days as opposed to 6 weeks when I ordered one at a time so I will gladly pay the man (think the supplier said a $30 total value). *****star rating

Only negative I find is there is really no space under it for the wires so if your going straight on a wall you will need to shove cables in wall or soffit. In my case I will be adding a base from Home Depot to hold the cat 5 plug etc on my trellace.

Xinray shipped my order pretty quick. Ordered 2 cameras on 3/29, got a shipped notice on the 6th, and they reached Los Angeles on the 9th. Ought to have them by the middle of the week.

Just received my camera today after 2 weeks. Looks very nice. Quick question from a newbie- do I need to check the DHCP box in SADP? I am able to log in with 123456789abc password. After I get this camera running, can I rerun SADP to change the password?

Changing the password can be done in the web configuration page after logging in. I think turning OFF dhcp would be better, so you can be sure it remains the same ip for always

Thanks very much. I turned off DHCP and changed my password in the Web configuration page. I also downloaded the Blue Iris demo and I am very impressed. Howard

Finally got my 2 cameras. They sat in LA for 4 days for some reason.

2.8mm = V5.3.6 build 151221
4mm = V5.3.3 build 150803

Both cameras look like they originally came from Hikvision with V5.3.5 build 150925

Same versions as mine, did yours have some Chinese writting under the Hikvision logo on camera cover/base as well? So far I all cameras working well I am now at the point though with 7 of them that my pc is starting to struggle (2.4ghz quad core) running Blue Iris. I may have to go NVR route with 16 POE as I sense more cameras in the future. Torn between a Dahua mini PTZ or the Huisun 10X PTZ just for looking around. Anyway let me know how your cameas work out, I can say the settings on these are little different than my 2132's as far as night goes. Still tweaking one of the 2.8mm and any face recognition is very white last night but, I can see the deer perfectly which is strange why a deer's face is easier to see than a humans =wierd.

I see price back up on this camera to $88.00 U.S so I suggest anyone out there looking for the next price drop just join and put in your wish list and you will be notified when the price drops again.

Greetings,

Anyone know the differences in firmware 5.3.3, 5.3.6 and 5.3.8?
This site advertises 5.3.8 just curious as to the benefits, risk rewards
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-New-model-DS-2CD3345-I-4MP-array-30m-IR-Network-Dome-security-ip-camera-H265/32415146575.html?spm=2114.10010108.100009.1.nIgdXC

Really was looking for a 4MP 5.3.6 (as someone indicated that 5.3.6 was better than 5.3.3, hence the question about what benefits 5.3.8 adds as well)

Thanks

I can add the 5.3.3 and 5.3.6 is that the browser interface just looks newer with the newer update (5.3.6) on my 2.8 cameras rather than the 4mm that were pre installed with (5.3.3). All the functions of the camera's are the same as far as I can tell. I have never update any camera and I have several 5.2.5 one's. I am not sure where you update a Chinese camera from (EU site ?) in the first place my motto is always if it ain't broke don't fix it. I don't want to get confused update from a US version camera with these hacked English multi language one's is probably my hesitation for not doing so. If anyone knows where you get the multi-language software consistently I would be interested but, that would be for a 3132 camera that has always been my buggy camera.

On that link you provided that camera is what I believe the consumer version typically with a plastic base as(3345) the 2345 I read are a more commercial application with a aluminum base if that really matters. That's if your going for the 4mp version whcih I read are not as effective at night as the mp in my title. Also seems the NVR's state 3mp and 5mp so you would be running at lower resolution anyway ( I think). I find at the moment I run my cameras lower resolution anyway for ease on my CPU 1080p as if I run them full out and say 25 frames my CPU hits 100%. So your system can be a contributing factor when considering what you want and what you need.

Any thoughts on why few true wide angle cameras out there? (110-130 degree Field of View e.g. Netgear's Arlo system)

Just curious

Netgear is likely falsely advertising the angle by using the diagonal field of view vs the horizontal. Many other manufatures do that, NEST, Logitech etc...
You can find 180 and 360 degree cameras, they are called fisheye..
When you go too wide with a 720 or even 1080p sensor you looks lots of image clarity and ability to ID a subject at a distance.
Note that arlo is a waste of time and money and should never be considered.
