Interesting. Tucker pointed out tonight that what Camela said in the debate about Lincoln not wanting to select a Supreme court judge, was totally not true. As stated by Michael Burlingame...
In fact there was no possible way Lincoln could have gotten a nominee into the Supreme Court, no possible way at all, because the Senate was not in session and there would have been no way to get the Senators back to Washington from around the country. If you understand history you understand how people traveled at the time Lincoln was in office.
