US Elections (& Politics) :)

Sitting here reading the news and it just makes my heart sink further and further. I didn't think we could fall this fast, this quickly. It is astonishing the ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT that is flowing from every Demontard/Liberal/Socialist's mouth right now. Even many 'Republicans' have lost their damn minds as well. It is heart breaking to see all of this and to say it is overwhelming, isn't even close. God help our country, and guide us thru these dark days. I fear the worst is yet to come....in a big way. God be with us all.

It has to slow down....if it doesn't I just don't know what is going to happen. YES it is that bad. And you would think the incoming administration would be trying to bring us all together...NOPE. Just stoking the flames....bad things are going to happen soon. I hope not, but hope is fading...
Just keep in mind as they are taking names, so should we, what I mean, know who is for and against you, what side they are on...Those against you will be the one's turning you in...Sad but could be friends or family...This is a very common theme in Communism...Watch out for wolves in sheep clothing, like what happen at the Capitol. I am not saying live in fear, I am saying live in Wisdom...

The wife and I have already came up with our answers to Any questioning. We will be pointing to a Bible, "Your answer is in The Bible", period, no more words will come out of our mouths...If you want to know where we stand, our beliefs, what side we are on, "The Bible". period. The Left loves to summit huge Bills with many pages, wasn't the last one like 5000 pages, well then our 1200 page Bible will be easy for them to read. :)

So what is everyone's go to email provider to get away from the likes of gmail and microsoft? Well until whoever that is gets shutdown:banghead:

Um...no. not even close

To summarize. The whole county was on fire, buildings and businesses looted, people assaulted and killed, yet she thought there should be LESS confrontation with the people causing it.

Again, context matters.

Disclaimer: As an Australian I don't have a horse in either side of this American race. I have no passion for one side or the other. But I see things from the outside in, so I believe I can see things a bit more as they are without getting emotionally involved. I don't have a side to defend.
I don't care about Pelosi, but I am correcting someone making an incorrect comparison.

In sdkid 's original post, he linked to a very specific quote which happened on November 13th 2018.

"We welcome the presence of these activists, and we strongly urge the Capitol police to allow them to continue to organize and participate in our democracy" - Nancy Pelosi, Nov 13th 2018

Ok, so what is Pelosi referring to?

AOC's protest towards NP on the very same day. They were respectful, had their signs, did it properly.
She welcomes that respectful kind of protest and wishes the Capitol police to let them do their thing.

@sdkid said "Hmmm.... it appears her opinion of activists & protesters has changed..."
In reference to the Capitol Hill stuff in 2021, while linking to the 2018 quote.
She was referring to a specific, respectful 2018 protest. But sdkid was using absolutes: "it appears her opinion of activists & protesters has changed..."
Well, yeah, she absolutely would have differing opinions of different protestors. One group was small and had signs, was relatively respectful.
The other swarmed Capitol Hill and did major damage. She probably didn't like that. But its not "opinion of activists and protestors has changed" in general.
Its different opinions of different people at different events.

As for your link @Jessie.slimer , you are linking to a June 2nd, 2020 quote about BLM.
Regardless of whether you support it or not, whatever side you are on, its not what Pelosi was talking about in 2018. That is the argument here. Context matters.

You can add in "but what about?....." stuff for other, more wholesome general politics discussions. And you may absolutely have a great point.
But my response was to sdkids very specific, very defined point.

A comparison might be you saying that "Most Doorbell cams suck" today. And most at the consumer price point kinda do. There is $800 Axis stuff that is great currently, but the price is a bit rough for consumers.

Then in 2 years time you say "There are some good consumer doorbell cameras out there" and then someone pulls you up saying "Oh, I guess Jessie changed their tune. He's flip-flopping. Sad.".
Well, you were referring to a specific group of consumer doorbells 2 years before. And people cant use your 2021 quote then to compare that to the super awesome consumer doorbells we have in 2023 (if that ever happens).

My point was that she flip flops like a fish out of water. Many of the BLM protests over the summer were not peaceful nor done in the right way. She supported them. No calls were made for them to be prosecuted. She did not call for action against people like Maxine Waters who openly called for protesters to get in the face of politicians who support Trump, telling them to not allow these individuals to do everyday activities like eating at a restaurant or getting gas for their cars. She was ok with the Brett Kavanaugh protests, where people were banging on the doors and trying to illegally enter the Supreme Court. She had nothing to say when protesters illegally entered the Capitol in 2018. What's the difference? They were on HER side. She's a hypocrite. That's what hypocrites do. Now she is all about law and order, when it suits her agenda.

When you say "Pelosi welcomes activists when done the right way. Its part of democracy", I'd have to disagree with you.

I say Pelosi welcomes activists when that activism is geared toward Donald Trump or Republicans.

Edit: Almost no one is condoning what happened at the Capitol. Many including myself think that anyone that broke the law should be arrested and be held responsible for their actions. Every Republican lawmaker is saying the same thing. Democrats never took this position over the summer. Actually, Biden and Harris set up funding to bail those criminals out. But anyone spewing garbage saying the President incited violence is just wrong. Its the opposite, in fact. He called for peaceful protesting at the Capitol. I'd welcome any evidence to the contrary.

I've been using an independent email provider for at least 15 years. Costs me about $50 per year. I've never understood why people want to have their emails on google, yahoo, etc. servers. It's just giving away your info and freedom for free stuff.

Over the summer I would say probably in the thousands of stores were looted and burned many hundreds of people were killed by those that were participating in these “fiery but peaceful” protest That went on for what continuously like six months.

On one day 100 knuckleheads barg into the Capital, A police officer kills one unarmed female, and they call it an insurrection.

former Texas congressman Ron Paul, 85, has been blocked from using his Facebook page for unspecified violations of “community standards.”

We have been discussing the rising threats against Trump supporters, lawyers, and officials in recent weeks from Democratic members are calling for blacklists to the Lincoln Project leading a a national effort to harass and abuse any lawyers representing the Republican party or President Trump. Others are calling for banning those “complicit” from college campuses while still others are demanding a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission”to “hold Trump and his enablers accountable for the crimes they have committed.” Daily Beast editor-at-large Rick Wilson has added his own call for “humiliation,” “incarceration” and even ritualistic suicides for Trump supporters in an unhinged, vulgar column.

They need to add to that video in the hundreds of killings and beat downs, people being pulled from their cars and beaten. The lootings and the fires all across the country. All of it was in the name of wokeness and liberalism

Indeed, and charges of inciting the over throw of the USA.
