US Elections (& Politics) :)

When Trump first started his "cheat by mail" rant I thought he was over-doing it. After looking at procedures in two states (because of the false vote 2 times accusations), I now think he's ahead of the curve on a system that's easily used to cheat. In North Carolina, one of the reasons they say protects absentee voting is "Once the ballot is accepted, that voter is marked in the system as having voted in that election. If that voter tries to vote in person, poll workers will know the person has already submitted an absentee ballot. " Statement About Absentee Ballot Security in North Carolina | NCSBE. The system prevents somebody from voting twice, right? Wrong! Over at Five Steps to Vote by Mail in North Carolina in the 2020 General Election | NCSBE, it says they will accept absentee ballots delivered up to 3 days after the election day. A big gaping hole where a non-rocket scientist can figure out how to vote twice. What they don't say in their reassuring security comments is what's done with the votes if this happens, or if it's even checked for.

In New York state the system accepts both absentee and in-person votes from the same person, with the in person vote overriding the absentee submission. This one is really easy to cheat with: Get a list of snowbirds that you know won't be voting in person, then send people in to cast in person votes for them. Kills 2 birds with one stone: Gets a fraudulent vote counted, and the legitimate vote discarded. Difficult to pull off? I don't think so because voter ID is prohibited in New York state. This is not a new hole in the sytem. Could it explain why the dems have been winning the elections lately?

Anybody notice the positive news jobs report yesterday or did the lyin' bastards with their phony timed scandals win the news spotlight yet again? The new dems are a slimy bunch and getting slimier every day.

If you piece together cherry-picked comments from across the years you can make anyone appear to say anything. And to hell with Griffin and her half-assed confirmation of "parts" of it.

FYI - I just posted this in another thread, but thought it was very illustrative of the issues with Absentee ballots

This makes it 100% clear of the issue of Absentee ballots being used to manipulate the vote.

Update: The owner of the stolen truck received a call this morning at 3 AM that his truck was found in the City of Bell, California which is about 25 miles from where the truck was stolen. He was told that he could pick the truck up on Monday. No other information available at this time. Now Monday is Labor Day, so we shall see.

City of Bell... where did I hear that city before...

Ahhh.. yes... basically those in power of that City were so corrupt, even the California State came after them....

City of Bell scandal
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Robert Rizzo" redirects here. For the German musician, see Robert Hunecke-Rizzo.

The Bell scandal involved the misappropriation of public funds in Bell, California, United States, over a period of several years in the late 2000s. In July 2010, the Los Angeles Times published an investigative article on possible malfeasance in the neighboring city of Maywood, revealing that the city officials of Bell received salaries that were reported as the highest in the nation.

..

Bell, California, is a small suburb of Los Angeles that covers 2.5 square miles (6.5 km2), with a population of approximately 38,000.[10] It is one of the poorer cities in Los Angeles County,[11] with almost one in six residents lives below the poverty line.[12] In 2009, Bell's per capita income was about $24,800..

..
In 2005, a measure approved by Bell voters exempted the city from a state law enacted earlier that year which limited the salary of council members of general-law cities – cities without a charter of their own.

All five members of the Bell City Council signed a statement in favor of the "little-noticed city ballot measure", which converted Bell into a charter city and was "billed as one that would give the city more control," yet failed to mention that Bell became exempted from the salary regulations. The measure passed, 336 votes in favor and 54 against.[17]

The salaries and pensions scandal in Bell also brought into question the issue of voter fraud. In the 2005 election, fewer than 400 votes were cast in a special election that cleared the way for City Council members to dramatically boost their own salaries. In that election, more than half the votes cast were absentee ballots, the most vulnerable method to manipulate fraudulent votes.

..
One resident of Bell, on condition of anonymity, told the Los Angeles Times that he was assigned the chore of retrieving absentee ballots: "Our objective was to collect absentee ballots, and if they were not filled out, instruct them how to fill it out, and if not, fill it out for them", he said. It is estimated that less than 1% of registered voters actually showed up to cast their ballot.[2] It has been reported that some residents went to the polling place, only to find that their votes had already been cast.[18]
..
Documents released to the Times revealed that the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) knew four years previously that Rizzo had received a 47% pay increase to $442,000.
..
Marcia Fritz, who heads the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility stated that at age 62, when Rizzo could have begun receiving Social Security payments, his annual pension and benefits would have risen to $976,771, topping $1 million two years later. "This guy would be our first seven-figure retiree", said Fritz.[34]

NYC ... a dumpster zone...

Interesting week this past one.

Three individuals I spoke to I heard things from I would have never imagined just 6 months ago

1- Our Sr VP in NYC- like all of us working from home. Said the city is a disaster, between DeBlasio, the WuFlu and the riots, everyone he knows is trying to escape. He's a lifelong New York Democrat 49 yo. and says he'll be voting for Trump. Can't believe they've let the city be destroyed.

2- My boss here in FL. Good guy, he and I talk politics all the time, hes a closet liberal RINO, 61, but leans conservative. Lays into Trump every chance he gets, has been predicting a 60/40 blowout for the Dims. At first he thought Biden was going to be his guy. The other day he says "The Democrats have let this BLM/Antifa/rioting shit get out of hand and they're encouraging it! I can't vote for them. Trump may just win this thing

3- A good friend who used to be my wife's boss. Retired at 55 with a HUGE pile. Was a big time Sr VP for GE and then another compay. Has a bazzilion $ home she built a couple of years ago in upstate NY. A very smart lady. She used to tolerate my conservative views, and I think thought I was a bit of a nutcase because I was involved in Firearm Training, Competition, etc. Typical liberal view on gun control. But back in April she calls and wants advice on a home defense gun. That was interesting, but this past week she floors me. Calls and says, would I help her pick out some body armor! Soft and plates! She runs in very ritzy circles. Says the 1% is scared shitless. Thinks the Dems may have overplayed their hand.

Joe Biden's true lead is smaller than it appears

Former Vice President Joe Biden continues to hold an advantage over President Donald Trump in the polls. Given that we're past both major party conventions and closing in on Labor Day, the only fair conclusion to reach is that Biden's the favorite.

Yet, it continues to be clear that the national polling will continue to overstate Biden's edge. An examination of the state polls shows a race that, while not a tossup by any means, is closer than the national polls would indicate.

The national polls after the convention tell a pretty clear story. Biden is up by around 8 points. That's what the CNN/SSRS poll shows. That's what the Grinnell College/Selzer and Co. poll has. The average, depending on how you compute it, has basically the same thing.

As I noted last week, elected incumbents rarely gain ground after the conventions. The two biggest gainers in the modern era were Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 and George H.W. Bush in 1992. Both picked up about 4 points, which would only cut Biden's edge by about half.

Biden's true lead (or true margin), however, is closer to 5 points. What do I mean by that?

Remember, the only thing that ultimately matters is winning 270 electoral votes in the Electoral College. To understand how easy a path each candidate has, you have to look at the state level polling.

The polling there is not nearly as universally good for Biden. Yes, some of it was good for Biden. He was up 8 points in a Fox News poll of Wisconsin. But a Quinnipiac University poll in Florida had the spread between Biden and Trump at just 3 points.

Ah... well, perhaps they should be - encouraging those that want to over throw the top 0.01% to riot is probably not a good plan for any in the top 1% ....

This is an interesting and scary article. All should read.

I’m sure our liberal friends will claim it fake, but if one wants to dig, there’s plenty of cited factual information out there to validate and cross reference it. They are completely open about much of it.

it should send a shiver down your spine

Their Summer Of Discontent

I think I called them characters from the Land of Misfit Toys a few months back. Seems others are noticing the same...

That’s an aspect that gets very little attention.

The violence we are seeing is in mostly white cities by mostly white people. Minneapolis is 19% black. Seattle is 7% black and Portland is 6% black. Kenosha is 10% black and close to 80% white! Note that super-black cities like Baltimore, St. Louis and Detroit have had no riots. Los Angeles, which just had a police shooting, could not get a decent riot going. They tried, but they lack the white kids with back packs needed to do it.

The truth behind these riots is that they have nothing to do with local issues or legitimate grievances. They are simply a happening that is drawing in the disaffected white youth that provides bodies for Antifa. Get up close to an Antifa crowd and what is striking is how unimpressive they are individually. The males are skinny and awkward, while the females are loud and ridiculous. These are young whites who have no place in the neo-liberal order, so they end up in Antifa.

What being in the anarchist underground gives them is the same thing you see in other types of anti-social subcultures. They get a sense of purpose, but also a community in which they have a clearly understood place. They go out and protests or riot with their mates and then have that to bond over afterward. It is not all that different from the hooliganism you see around European soccer. The difference is the Antifa kids come from the middle-class, rather than the working class.

I guess only certain Black lives matter.

U-Haul Trucks Set Ablaze By Protesters Owned By Black Man Who Placed ‘Black Owned’ Sign Outside

A Rochester man is “livid” after his business was targeted by protesters ostensibly outraged over the death of Daniel Prude, a black man who died about a week after an interaction with the Rochester Police Department (RPD), back in March.

As more violent rioting took place Saturday night, lasting into early Sunday morning, protesters torched a store that encompasses a U-Haul service — a store owned by a black man — leaving at least three of the vehicles destroyed by the alleged arson.

USPS Is 'Investigating' an Alarming Mail Issue in SoCal -- Bags of mail being dumped in two different locations in Glendale, California

Over the last few months President Donald Trump and Republicans have wondered how the United States Postal Service (USPS) will be able to handle the influx of mail this fall with the election in November, especially as more states move to voting by mail.

The concerns seem valid, especially considering the USPS is now launching an investigation into bags of mail being dumped in two different locations in Glendale, California, a suburb of Los Angeles.

One of the instances was caught on a surveillance camera outside of a spa. A Budget rental truck can be seen backing up before a man jumps out and unloads the bags of mail and boxes.

It was completely unusual. If they’re taking for their personal use, basically, why’d they have to drop off all the unopened packages somewhere," Lilia Serobian, the co-owner of 7Q salon told CBS Los Angeles. "Of course it’s suspicious. You start thinking, ‘OK, something is going on,’ because no one has access to all those boxes and packages.”

Police said the incident at 7Q happened shortly after a similar dump was made less than half a mile away.

Glendale Police Sgt. Christian Hauptmann told the Los Angeles Times the incident involved “possible stolen mail or whatever [that] was dumped in an alleyway."

This is the most recent incident involving the USPS. A mid-August report from the LAT explained other issues the USPS was having in California alone:

Six weeks ago, U.S. Postal Service workers in the high desert town of Tehachapi, Calif., began to notice crates of mail sitting in the post office in the early morning that should have been shipped out for delivery the night before.
At a mail processing facility in Santa Clarita in July, workers discovered that their automated sorting machines had been disabled and padlocked.
And inside a massive mail-sorting facility in South Los Angeles, workers fell so far behind processing packages that by early August, gnats and rodents were swarming around containers of rotted fruit and meat, and baby chicks were dead inside their boxes.
Accounts of conditions from employees at California mail facilities provide a glimpse of what some say are the consequences of widespread cutbacks in staffing and equipment recently imposed by the postal service.
On top of that, the USPS was removing roughly 10 percent of its mail sorting machinery and eliminating overtime pay for employees. Add those sweeping changes plus most of the country switching to voting by mail and the system is definitely going to be overwhelmed. In fact, the USPS is overwhelmed as it is with more people shopping online because of the pandemic. Factor in millions of ballots from all across the country and this is likely to cause the system to go crazy. Only time will tell how long it'll take for every ballot to be counted.

Regardless of what this situation is, it's not looking good. Either mail has been stolen and that's a major, major concern for election security or a carrier decided not to do his job so he dumped the mail, which is also a concern for ballots. How do we know this won't happen with something as sacred as our elections?

This is an interesting and scary article. All should read.
I think we should be very cautious in believing this article, yet on the other hand I readily concede it could be true. There was a different article a few days ago saying that there will be violence if Biden isn't elected by a wide margin. I'm sensing there's a concerted campaign going on now to intimidate potential Trump voters to vote for Biden to avoid violence, and this zerohedge article could just be part of it. Or maybe not?
