Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2 - Dual Lens 180 Degree Full Color 4K (8MP Stitched) Camera

Are time plans fixed? Eptz working?

Does EPTZ function correctly to zoom in a recoding on a NVR or is it only supported in the Webview of the camera?
E-PTZ works on Dahua NVR's with the latest FW (was a small release FW with E-PTZ support added). It will be part of mainstream FW rollout for NVR FW going forward. I tested this on a 5216 I/L and works fine
HTH

Well, I can't get E-PTZ to work in a recording either through the NVR or in SmartPSS. It does work in the Webview of the camera as asked by jayson436 and it also works as a zoom in Live View. But for me, not in the recording of the NVR.

@EMPIRETECANDY it makes sense to use the stretched horizontally aspect ratio if you are watching recording on a NVR live, but being given an option how to display it would be better. So who wants real aspect ratio can record and play in that format, who want to strech things up to fit in their monitors, could also have the option.

Hey guys

After we talk with dahua engineers and @Wildcat_1 and some CCTV installers we will keep the ePTZ function, so the original ratio we will keep it. But we add 2 more resolution to select, looks bit good, but this Will loose some angles, this is because of the ratio difference. Beta firmware is ready for testing. Anyone want to try, just DM me or send me email kingsecurity2014@163.com will collect the feedback and do some further work on the beta fw and official release it.

Andy,

Instead of adding modes that just crop off usable pixels, can we get modes that add horizontal black bars at the top and bottom of a frame to force letterboxing at the appropriate ratios?

We will invite @Wildcat_1 to make some compare with the hikvision's great 180 degree camera.

Black IPC-T5442T-ZE, IPC-Color4K-T180, Hikvision 180 camera size difference.

The base is about 6" in diameter.
It's mainly seeing a comparison to truly judge the scale.
Usual turret bases are like 4.7" or something? An extra inch in diameter doesn't seem like that much but comparing to that new PTZ is makes it much bigger!

That is crazy the size difference. I would probably opt for the PTZ at that point.

What makes the Dahua 180 nice is it uses the same size as the 5442 which is what many will probably be replacing with and moving the 5442 elsewhere.

Will be interesting in putting this side by side but for my money, the Dahua is the more attractive and sleeker model ;)

I have the Hik in hand (ok big hands :) ). I'm going to grab some simple resolution based video comparisons first and then will do a full blown comparison later. This one will be interesting in terms of showing each resolution the Dahua now offers in 1 timeline with the Hik as well so will be a challenge BUT Hey, I'll make it work :)

We will finally find out if bigger is better :lmao:

All, here is a quick stills comparison of both the Hik (single) and Dahua (multiple) resolutions on offer now as of the latest FW. Don't read anything about quality or cam balance into this as I pulled these quick and had to reduce quality to fit as an attachment here. Just wanted people to have a quick res vs res comparison to give an idea to aspect ratio and impact to image.

Quick Aspect Ratio Comparison First
As you can see below, the closest (if you're looking for a 'similar' experience on the Dahua to the Hik) would be the 4096x1216 and it's associated ratio.

Cam + Resolution
Aspect Ratio
Hikvision - 5120 x 14403.56:1
Dahua - 4096 x 18002.28:1
Dahua - 4096 x 15362.67:1
Dahua - 4096 x 12163.37:1
Dahua - 3840 x 16802.29:1
Dahua - 2880 x 12642.28:1

Now a quick stacked image showing these
Edit: Added in table format + added the 2880 x 1264 resolution from the Dahua too

My first observation is that you do not look as skinny in the Hikvision camera. Hahaha. Also, the Hikvision camera has a wider view. As to the Dahua camera, I would say the 2nd or 3rd one down. Maybe a street view in the front of your house for possibly a better comparison.
